I’m very much pro-player, I admit. Saying it’s not a job is absurd. You clearly have no clue what it’s like.
Lol, you are clueless here. Just because they have to practice and play a game doesn't make it a job. Also, they don't have to do it. No one holds a gun to their heads and makes them play football. They can go get a job, go into the military, or go to college and not play football. If you think this isn't going ruin college football, I really question your critical thinking skills.

I don't recall anyone saying that he made it in. No Tweet about his location etc. That's the reason I believe what Price said about the staff not bringing him in.

Being a college athlete requires time and effort. If that's what you mean by a job, then sure, I agree. In no way is it employment, though, which InVoluntary was getting at I think. Surely you don't see being a collegiate athlete as employment.

If a player goes to whatever school offers the most, then money is the only meaningful consideration to them. It isn't necessarily wrong, but it does speak their values. If you believe that team, brotherhood, coaches, quality of the school and its fan base are less relevant than how much you can make, that could easily be a red flag to a coach. It's ok to be paid, and it's ok for that to be *a* consideration..the workman is worthy of his hire. But if that is *the* consideration, I'd personally be cautious.

Yes out of the 2 people in this back and forth, the one who didn’t play a D1 sport definitely knows what it’s like more than the one who did and has also had regular professional jobs. You can’t compare the two bc you’ve never experienced one of them.

But go off, my dude.

And no one cares if you think it’s gonna ruin the sport. It’s not like players got cut in on profits lol. They are just using their own name, image, or likeness to make money. They are monetizing themselves. They should be allowed to do so just like everyone is allowed to do so.

I think this staff is doing a great job of factoring in culture when deciding on recruits. They don't want someone that thinks they're bigger than the program. They realize that bringing in someone that doesn't mesh can be devastating to the locker room regardless of his star rating. Could be a similar situation with Nolan.

As much as it pains me to say this, I...I....I..a...g...r....e...e....w....i...t..h.....y...o...u.. man that was hard. :)

For the 9 millionth time for all of Volnation that does not read, the state of Tennessee NIL law does not go into effect until January 1, 2022. Why is his so hard for people to understand?
You hit the nail on the head----people just run with what they read without any facts to back up what's written. Just understand that when people are not happy---they vent their feelings and one outlet is message boards and social media. We finally have some very good coaches and I trust their ability to get the right players in here. No one is going to color outside the lines with recruiting so let's just wait and see what Wednesday brings-----I'm looking forward to Wednesday myself

I was a D1 athlete and I’ll tell you I definitely don’t want it to be catergorized as employment. When that day comes, call it what it really is (and becoming) and that’s Minor League Football. Move it away from colleges where it doesn’t belong, force the NFL to own their responsibilities, and quit subsiding their league.

I don’t care at all that we didn’t get Evans, or didn’t try ir whatever. I just don’t understand the people who are mad at a kid for using his talent to earn money.
It's the way he did it. Probably not him but his handler and face we don't need him. CJH will get what he need for his offensive scheme. He is a shinny object that has been mishandled. Don't blame him at all. Would like to have but not a must have. Not mad at him but I am upset about the apparent misrepresentation of t he University Offering a low ball NIL, when evidently we never offered him a NIL Deal. Saving Face at the University's Expense. Does it affect Recruiting? Sure it does. Does it affect current rebuild? It Could but the players know the staff well enough by now and trust the coaches. When a recruit focuses on a NIL deal of which he may or may not warrant and it spins it like it apparently has been then it speaks more to the character of the individual....Plus Evans is a 1 year deal and more than likely a 1 semester deal. He be gone in January....More problems than he is worth. If our NIL pot is limited, I would rather spend it on more deserving players who are here to learn, develop, stay and committed to the University to eventually move on to the NFL at the appropriate time.

I’m saying it’s similar to a job. The time requirements, the effort, the pressure. It’s not *technically* employment bc players aren’t paid by this “employer”, only by their own NIL.

NIL isn’t ruining college football. Just a bunch of fear based bullsh*t

The push now is for unionizing and deeming players employees, so what I’m saying is very real.

So is being in a fraternity. Was a D1 athlete. It took time, effort, etc. Wasn't a job. It was fun because that's the hobby and activity I liked to do.

Just because I didn't play d1 sports doesn't mean I don't know anything about it. It's not a job. No matter how you try to make it a job, its not a job. No on we gives two ***** about your opinion any more than mine.

If obviously have absolutely zero ability to logically think, maybe a CTE? These kids asking for this kind of money aren't being paid for their ability to make money in a legitimate marketing where the company invest in them in order to I crease their sales. They're being purchased. If you're too dense to see it then that says something too. All this does is open it up for the cheating and scandal. It's already happening. But hey, as long as the few that will get that big dollars, be damned to the rest. Something tells me you probably wouldn't have even gotten the cookie deal. 🤣
