It's likely part of the youth movement. You don't go after a player like Stewart unless you intend to start him. We just signed a 5* and highly rated 4*. We have a highly rated 4* from last year's class. Bringing in Brazzell AND Stewart all but assures that none of those guys see the field. Especially if Bru comes back. Right now, Matthews or Staley are likely to be behind Squirrel on the depth chart in the slot. We don't know if Bru is coming back or how healthy he'll be if he does. That would put Thornton and Brazzell at X and Y, backed up by Nimrod, Webb, and Leacock (possibly one of the freshmen). Squirrel at slot almost definitely backed up by one of the freshmen. Matthews is 6'2"(depending on which source you get your info from), so I could see him being outside, unless his fastest route to playing time is in the slot next season.

When I read these posts, am I the only one thinking when a poster says "pay the man", they have not put one dime toward NIL. They always want to manage someone else's money.

This whole thing has turned into a game of the highest bidder. I predict more mature people will find other ways to consume their time as time goes on. This stuff is a cluster and takes energy to follow. It's not about anything but whether the team you root for offered the most money.

Call it culture or call it fit, it is real and even more so now with NIL dollars part of the calculation. If he has shared a price that the staff KNOWS will cause problems with large portions of the room, then do the dance and politely move on, even after acknowledging his talent levels.

They are able to manage it by restricting who is allowed to be in it. Read your statement back to yourself and take in just how ignorant it is; coaches like Saban have booted players bc they didn’t fit the culture.
