Tyler Bray's father says NFL draft was 'brutal'

Obviously things look better for our future now but when you are dealing with someone who is apparently a head case, doubt is the first thing you should have.

And in the NFL, it is so painfully obvious yet owners and front office people just cannot seem to see it. To wit:
Ryan Leaf, Vince Young, Jamarcus Russel. Anybody that paid any attention at all could see those train wrecks coming from miles away. Sadly, Tyler Bray is no different.

The thing is, a lot of people called Bray early on. His attitude, the throat slashing, bloated numbers against weak opponents- were all early warning signs. But posters like NEGATEER attacked anybody who dared say anything.

So how should a scout/team grade his performance?

I gave you his stats versus the SEC and then took out his stats against 5-7 Missouri and 2-10 Kentucky.

That isn't qualifying his wins or losses. Just the SEC squads with a winning record.

And his stats speak for themselves. There isn't a "this is the defense's fault" wiggle-out. Bray played like a UFA in those games.

The South Carolina game is honestly the only game of any importance that Bray can point to to legitimize the last year of his college career. He did play very well in that game but from an analytical perspective... that's 1 game. That isn't enough.

There are a variety of reasons he didn't get drafted. I don't think anyone played particularly well against the ranked teams he lost to last year.

I still think its possible he threw that game in an effort to get Dooley fired. I also think Dooley returned the favor when he met with gruden in the off season and gave gruden specifics to grill bray on.

When did Dooley meet with Gruden?

You proud, eh? Bray's antics which I didn't like either and said so were no different than other ego-centric players. CP's taunting, that Ark. player not too long ago who did the Gator chomp after scoring, defensive players and their displays after making a sack or other big play. The social atmosphere of today trains kids to be exhibitionists and braggarts. You see it in movies, cartoons, reality shows, on the news, and even in malls. Not to mention hidden camera evidnce of car dealerships when a salesperson has duped a buyer into extra purchases that are rip offs. So what's the surprise when Bray's on field behavior emerged? By the way, do you have anything to say about the time she reigned in himself when JH caught a pass against Montana that went for TD and he started to wave bye-bye? How about cutting his Tennessee Walking Horse high step short when it dawned on him he could be penalized if caught? Nothing to say about the few good things he did? No surprise considering how many fans just MUST stomp not just Bray but any player who even looks like he might do something stompers don't like. It's as if such fans live for the joy of finding fault in players, which wouldn't be so bad actually. except for the joy of bringing the fault up again and again or boasting how right they were. I don't hate you man, just tired of the hate that gets spewed on our players and ex-players. Funny thing, Adrian Foster, Bryce Brown, Tyler Bray, haven't spewed the same hate against the fans or UT, makes you wonder who has the lowest character.

Zach Rogers could be an incredibly successful NFL receiver, but I don't believe we heard him or his dad whine about not being drafted. He earn his keep by turning heads in practice and camp... the same thing Bray and any other player will have to do. Drafted or not

I would do anything for a spot on an NFL team...drafted, undrafted, local tryouts...doesn't matter to me. I would just be grateful to be there. And as a father, I would be stoked that my son has that opportunity. Which in all honesty, he has the exact same opportunity as EJ Emanuel who was drafted in the first round. They all have to earn it and prove themselves.

With the right coaching and system, Bray can definitely earn his keep. He is a good quarterback with an incredible arm. Be grateful Mr. Bray. You have a very gifted son.

So we should just profess undying love for someone who has admitted to being under prepared to play as our QB in a time when we needed on field leadership. I quite honestly don't understand your infatuation with someone that willingly let our team down. I have avoided replying to your posts for some time now, but you need to keep your Bray love to yourself and quite castigating people that have a different opinion of the guy than you do. You don't know what Bray has or will say about UT fans. You don't know what Foster and Brown have said or will say. I have actually heard that Foster early on said some pretty bad things about the fans. Bray has shot birds at the fans. Just because the guy wore a UT uniform doesn't mean I will profess undying love for him and back him with every move he makes. Bray showed his dislike for UT and the fans pretty much every time he walked on the field unprepared and not ready to play.

All-knowing one, it isn't Bray-love you read in my posts, it's Vols-love. Though you choose to not read or fathom it, my issue isn't even your claim Bray let us down, indeed, I admit as much. It's the constant hate spewed at not just Bray but other players and ex-players. But that's I get it. When one is infected with Jerry Springerism, that's all you can expect from them. Carry on, as haters just got to hate, you know.

You may be right for one or two posters, but to make a generalization like you did (and consistently do) is wrong. Of course, you then resort to personal comments like you did (and consistently do) for anyone that disagrees with you or calls your posts out for what they are. Ergo the reason I had (and will) discontinued even to bother posting comments to your OBVIOUSLY correct and all guiding posts. But what you disguise as "vol love" is simply taking an opportunity to insult the rest of us who see a player for what he is.

Not everyone that comes here and wears the orange is or should be held in high esteem when they leave. They are given an opportunity to play for one of the top 5 programs in the country (all time), they are given support by hundreds of thousands of fans, when they squander that opportunity and support, some of us call it for what it is, others, just show the luv...........keeping on drooling for Bray starman.

ZR will play on this fall, Bray........nah.

I've tried to read this wall of text three times, and I'm still not sure what the hell you are saying. I think you are angry at me, but it's vague. If so, I'm sorry. If not, disregard.

Three times? Man, you must really love me. Ever occur to you to not read the post? Naw, you just gotta be a man of straw for your buddy and try to make someone feel bad. But you know how it is with you haters:

LOL I swear to Christ I don't know that you are talking about. Let's just let it go.

In case you guys haven't heard, Bray is already taking snaps at 3rd string above former Iowa QB Stanzi who was drafted 5th round in 2011..........and from KC reports, he has really been turning heads so far in camp and had a wow pass the other day that amzed everyone...and Reid and Eric Berry have both been on recorded saying Bray is leaving and breathing the playbook at this point......it's obvious that Rei9d really likes him from all of his comments...i wouldn't be surprsied if he leapfrogs Chase Daniel at number 2 some point in the season and we all know Alex Smith can not stay healthy for one entire season.

Wonder how the Bray haters will react when he starts making his mark as a genuine QB in the pros? Like many, I didn't appreciate his antics but I think he just needed a solid kick in the head so it fit right. That not being drafted certainly qualifies as a head kick. I think he is learning that talent don't mean much if it doesn't have a brain and character to back it up. I look forward to and hope he becomes a very successful NFL QB. The haters will doubtless still find cause to hate.

Thanks for sharing. I'm cheering for the guy and I agree with your analysis
