Tyler Bray's father says NFL draft was 'brutal'

All of this Bray hate is as pathetic as usual, and then moving on and blaming his dad for it?

I hope he goes on and sets records and every time he's on MNF says "**** UT" because of how pathetic you fairweather and flip flopping fans are.

Legions of the miserable, and it seems many don't deserve even that.

He's a football player. He's not your boyfriend. Go start your own Tyler Bray forum and leave this forum for the actual UT fans.

Man, if you can't discuss the shortcomings of a player and his attitude that cost him a ton of money and maybe a career, then read something else.
I hope he grows up, gets a chance and kills it too. If he is man enough to make that happen, he won't be interested in I told you so's.

Except that's not what most of these people are doing. Bad parenting on a kid being a kid? Or mocking his intelligence as his reason for not being able to read defenses? (Which his wonderlic score proves otherwise but let's not mention that).

It's the same thing, over and over, same thread over and over, we get it. people dislike bray's attitude despite the fact you can't put the vast majority of the losses on his attitude. That simple.

There's a big difference between bashing and telling the truth. 90% of the people I see who are critical of Bray have only restated what everyone else has said of him. Something isn't jiving when you go undrafted as a QB with Tyler's arm. It goes back to the metal aspect of the game and his heart. What it comes down to is Bray didn't put the work in to get drafted in the first rounds of the draft and that's the truth, but maybe, as Jack Nicholson would say,"You can't handle the truth!"

Telling the truth doesn't involve mocking a former player (a great player statistically in fact) or his family, or questioning how he was raised. That's childish and pathetic. People saying he can't read defenses? No problem. People saying he lacks maturity? sure. Not a big deal. It's the asshats like the guy a few quotes below this one that need to leave and shut up about our former players when all they do is argue with name calling and ignorantly repeating things others say but in a dumber manner.

Just because you go to UT doesn't mean you get unconditional support and respect. You have to earn that ****. That dude mailed it in constantly and didn't give a **** about the team. His own teammates dogged him in the interview process. I wonder why? He isn't worthy of the T. If he has success.. Fine I'm glad he got his act together but all this nonsense that we all have to love and cherish a player just because he came here and threw on a helmet is nonsense. You earn that.

No problem with most of what you say, but saying he isn't worthy of the T isn't for us to decide, or for anyone to decide anymore. He played. He did his best given the circumstances, and we respect him for what he gave us. Unless of course, you wanted Simms playing more or worley playing far too soon and doing even worse than bray did. But this is a post that's far more in line with what is good with these forums, talking in a manner that is open for discussion and not calling names or demeaning players and their families unlike the next two people.

First off, a forum is this entire message board, a thread is not a forum. There are COUNTLESS Tyler Bray bashing threads if you want to go there and be twelve years old with your homosexual accusations and inability to really make any point other than trying to attack me. Though, Ironically, I guess that means you fit perfectly with the oregon fans and their different outfits having to match.

Look, we know you had neither a father nor a mother but damn man that's some stoopidd sheet you're saying there. :eek:hmy:

VolBraniac, I'm going to assume you're in 3rd grade because of how you are typing and arguing, and though I am blocking you after this response, know this: This is the internet, and there are plenty of internet tough guys like you, but if you were to say a word about either of my parents in person, you would not be speaking to anyone ever again. I'd advise you to learn how to argue before someone in a much better position than I decides to put you in your place. :hi:

I repeat. The legions of the ****ing miserable.

Well, then I guess we need to credit our only bowl trip in those three years to Matt Simm's victory over UT Martin and UAB... Wilcox was a good DC. Sunseri, not so. That's not debatable. Sunseri didn't fumble in the last possessions against SCar and UGA...Can't blame the defense for that...I liked Bray. All I'm saying is that I was not shocked when he wasn't drafted. Never had any draft-worthy performances IMO. Ainge, yes. I was surprised when Crompton was drafted. Not surprised when he was let go though.

I'm pretty sure anybody would have fumbled if being hit from behind by Clowney. If you want to blame someone for the USCe loss, blame the O-line (even though I don't think the O is to blame after putting up 35). The Georgia loss, yes he fumbled, after they had already scored 44 points!

As for the first two years he was here, you still can't blame him for them being losing seasons since A) he didn't play but half of each one and B) he didn't even play the meat of the schedules.

Maybe so; it does happen.

But life isn't over at 22, and parents can and do pull up their socks and redress the past, and so do their now-adult kids.

It's completely up to all concerned as to whether they learn from this, suck it up, and grow, or if they make baffled statements to the media. That's what life is like, folks: it throws your curveballs and spitters, and you do or you do not figure out how to handle it.

I'm not a Bray basher. Not everyone grows up when you want them to grow up. That doesn't mean that they're doomed to silliness and irrelevance for the rest of their lives.

Every single one of us has the chance to reinvent ourselves, every single day. No one is doomed by the past, although it can be hard to shake off. :hi:

Probably one of the finest things I've ever read on here.

Kudos. :salute:

Absolutely. His inability to read a defense can easily be coached up and fixed with the right QB coach.

This...and this.

With any defense at all last year, it's an entirely different season. Was down on Bray some, but last year was not his fault.

Makes sense. He's good enough to take on as a project and teams filled other needs for the draft. I bet it was hard for the both of them.

I feel bad for all of them, but did anybody do any kind of objective analysis before he declared? If so, they had to consider the bad with the good and realize that he could have some issues in the drarft.

Further, it appears that all he worked on were the physical things--like blowing up 25 pounds in two months, which I am sure further raised some eyebrows. Yet, on the mental side, where his weaknesses were known to be, he apparently was completely unprepared to meet with Gruden or the league GMs. He just doesn't seem to get it.

Talent isn't his problem.....the above is his problem.

I don't see Bray hate. I see a valid discussion about an underachiever that's upset that he didn't get drafted. I also see a discussion where many people are deducing where Tyler may have gotten his sense of entitlement from. I mean during their early years kids are around there parents more than anyone else, right? So why is it far-fetched to believe what we saw on the field at UT is not a by-product of that behavior, especially considering that Dad is now speaking out about this.

As for the F*** UT, why? Because they gave him a 4 year scholarship to work toward a degree and a platform to showcase his talents to get him to the pros? If he says F*** UT, I say F*** him or anyone who thinks like him.

You guys act like Jim Chaney is a damn scrub of a coach. He's highly regarded as one of the best OC out there. Good grief. You guys are the kids in college who make every excuse as to why they did bad in a class instead of just maning up and saying I screwed up and need to try harder. Bray didn't put the effort in. I don't care who his coach is, you can't force the guy to put in extra work to get better.

When you are being hamstrung by the head coach in team discipline (see Da'rick), doesnt matter how good of a OC you are.

I hope he has tremendous success. He's got a ton higher ceiling than some of the lousy QB's that were drafted like EJ Manuel and Geno Smith. I think he'll have a productive NFL career.

Let me get this straight-you think Tyler Bray who won 5 games last year, was benched against Vandy, and has a number of intangible issues has a higher ceiling than EJ Manual-a kid who ran a 4.6, has just as big an arm (sorry-he does) 10 3/4 inch hands compared to Bray's 9 1/4, and a kid that scouts and coaches raved about in terms of his work ethic, brain, attitude, and leadership skills?

All of this=fail.

He absolutely did not do his best he even told gruden he prepared at a 70 percent l l and that's probably exagerating. Jonathon Compton did his damn best and I'm proud of him even though we didn't do that great. Tyler bray did far from his best
