Tyler Smith

If he is able to put up NBA-jump worthy numbers next year with Lofton also on the team, we'll be ridiculously good.

True... but I doubt he will surpass much of what he did at Iowa this year.. especially with some of the scoring beside him. Tennessee has more scoring options than Iowa did and Crews and Chism were just freshmen right out of highschool and Childress continues to drastically improve.

No doubt he will have a huge impact if he is cleared to play next year, but I don't think he'd leave after 1 year.. but then I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves after his junior year.

Then again, he could be a huge playmaker and shock us all :)

I agree entirely. I was responding to the suggestion that he will leave after next year.

Maybe it's just b/c I miss basketball already, and it's mid-April, but I'm kind of stunned by this and trying to wrap my head around what this would mean for Tennessee's lineup next season. I guess we should wait until something actually happens.
Can you say FINAL FOUR!!!

So much for spreading out the scholarships among classes. :eek:lol:

I bet Pearl is not banking on all of them staying until their Senior year. Ramar, Tyler or Chism could go early. Very good possibility. All have NBA size and talent.

I don't know why everyone thinks Ramar will leave early. I'm not saying he can't, but he's going to have to develop a jump-shot first.

I don't know if he'll leave after his junior year or not...but right now, he's the best NBA prospect on the roster.

We'll agree to disagree.

Okay, fine... but you can't argue with this fact. If both Chris Lofton and Ramar Smith declared for this year's NBA draft, Lofton would likely go in the 2nd round. Ramar wouldn't get drafted. At this point, Lofton is the better NBA prospect.

Based on college performance, Lofton is the better prospect...but that's not what NBA GMs base their decisions on. I don't think anyone would use a second round selection on Ramar, but I'm not sure an NBA GM will use a 2nd round selection on Chris either.

I think Chris will make a roster and find his role on a team...but I think Ramar will play several years as a point guard in the league, and be a more productive pro than Lofton.

Maybe so. Time will tell. I think both of them will eventually get their chance in the league.
