U.S. Navy Not Fit For War

Video shows Marines in massive Brawl outside Austin, Texas, Bar after a woman's cell phone was taken

Video posted to social media shows the moment a nasty fight broke out between a group of uniformed Marines and civilians outside a Texas nightclub over the weekend.

The altercation seems to start when one woman grabs a phone out of the hands of another and a Marine tries to intervene.

Then, a man in a white long-sleeve shirt attempts to throw a punch at a different Marine and misses, as a group of his fellow military men rush to his defense.

While some Marines try to separate the men as they curse at each other, tensions seem to escalate and an all-out brawl begins.

You "men"/"patriots" in 2023 need to realize that you cannot interject yourselves in these confrontations. Let women resolve their own issues. Give them the equality they want and deserve.

Lol fat girl snatched the phone right out of skinny girl’s hand and tossed it. Then her entourage started the fight.

Not that kind of recon. Basically, it's a submarine hunter with sea search and surveillance capabilities.
Who's submarines are we looking for? How many countries have submarines that we would need to be concerned about? Are they looking for Mexican submarines? Angolan submarines? What about those pesky Omanis? If that is the case, then the "spy" label could probably (probably) be challenged a bit.

Recon doesn't always mean spy.
Not always. But it does sometimes, right? Is the headline deceitful?

spying would imply a good bit more stealth or trickery/deception.

Nothing of the sort with those planes. They don't go fast or high at all like a U2 spy plane, its about as stealthy as a C-130. its not disguised as a civilian aircraft, I am pretty sure you can track their movements online, so I don't think they are classified in any manner. doesn't operate over foreign territory except by permission, and typically only works in non-hostile conditions.

I would call it more hunting/patrolling than "spying". not really sure why its relevant to the storyline except for sensationalism.

The headline is misleading, yes.

It can operate in ISR roles, but typically it's not the same as one might consider "spy" planes. The article title makes it sound very ominous like it's the only job it has.

As much as I detest Boeing on so many levels, the P-8 is actually a pretty decent platform.

C'mon... who determinbes where this gray line is? If you are looking for submarines, how is that any different than a U-2 looking for bases on the surface? Stop splitting hairs.

Who said anything about having to be stealthy in order to now qualify to be a spy plane? Who makes these rules?

Splitting hairs/euphormisms... The headine was not incorrect in calling it a spy plane. Maybe the word "spy" adds an enhancement to most people's perception... but it is what it is. It is performing recon on Mexican and Angolan submarines.

C'mon... you're better than this. You are more disturbed at the headline and want to nitpick it than the actual event in question. Recon or spy whatever... now we are arguing balls and strikes on something that distracts from the actual real issue.

No one (in this particular event) is placing blame on Boeing.
