I like their trucks but the interiors are terrible. I've already spent $50K on a vehicle, not sure I am going to do it again unless its made in Italy or Germany.

GM's truck interiors have become the new Dodge. Great drivetrain and suspension system, the body and cab....not so much.

You want get one made in Germany, unless you special order it and pay a sizeable import tariff. Other wise, you get a German engineered car made in The US. Either way it will likely be crap and spend most of its formidable years in the repair bay. BMW is notorious for putting inferior cooling system components in their vehicles. You spend 50K-100K on a BMW and get cheap hoses, tanks, and a water pump with plastic impeller. Car is crap unless you spend an extra 5K right off the bat on proper cooling system components. Drove my brothers VW Tiguan the other day. Couldn't pay me to take that thing. And its turbo is out and proprietary, so only 3K to VW parts barn to fix that. So he has settled on "NO".

If you need a 1 ton diesel Ford and GM are your only options.

We have F250 crew cab long beds for work. Need an empty Walmart parking lot for the gigantic turning radius. They won't even navigate a drive thru. Dodge 2500's have the tightest turning radius. And a Cummins still. Not sure if any them have much going for them. Ford should have never ditched the 7.2.

Back to line of thought on OP though. Unions had a purpose at one time in our industrial history. I get that. But, having always been a managment guy, never took a modern liking to them. Wouldn't join even if I was on the shop floor.

You will find your trade unions embedded in the South, and an occasional industrial plant. The local Cummins Filtration plant here in Cookeville has been unionized forever.

They don't do much for the employee anymore, and haven't for decades. Unions were taken over by the mafia decades ago, and their existence is to purely pass money up to the Don. They care nothing about the employee except to con them into paying dues.

I know Nissan manufactures engines in Dechard and the Japanese cars are really high on the index. Honda engines in Ohio. The American car companies source a lot from Canada and Mexico. Really just about every plant probably stamps bodies, welds, and everything else is just assembly. Usually when a foreign car mfg builds a new plant, the suppliers build close by. Not sure if these are typically Tier 1.
I think for awhile there, the Civic was the most "American" car IIRC

It's not in Huntsville or the Madison area. Not even in the same county. It's being built in Athens, basically in my dad's backyard.
Not in Athens....I will concede that it is across the line into limestone county....... still referred to as a "Huntsville Location" and this is not my dad's backyard....its my backyard.

I am going Ford.
Every gym product I ever owned felll apart like a cheap suit. My fords actually held up well.

I’ve had good luck with the fords ive owned. The problem I had with both of them was that while the engine held up well, everything around the engine fell apart.

.....im actually in Killen.....got to stay close to Wilson Lake!!

Ahh...out 72 West iirc...I used to work at several TVA Hydro's including Wheeler and Wilson. Always go to Quad Cities and cut thru across the dam to 20
or straight to Florence. This was pre GPS days so I really learned my way around NA.

Not sure how long it's been since you were here....Shoal creek bridge 4 lane in place? Singing River Bridge below Pickwick dam?

Left in 2003. I do not even remember Pickwick, but I think I went there in about 2005 when I was working for another company and still had TVA accounts.

Are you talking about that little bridge on 72 right before you get into Florence? It was a truss bridge and I think they were replacing it about when I left.

Edit; Pickwick is in TN.

Lol. Yep. I meant Wilson Dam.....you now have an "Autobon" from Florence into Muscle Shoals.
Yes the little one lane truss going into Florence is still there (not used though) now it is a 4 lane....I guess you can remember what a bottleneck that use to be!!
