UConn discussion (merged)

it should be a good final four... its not gonna be a cakewalk for UConn especially if a player or 2 gets into foul trouble. They dont foul often but Sunday or Tuesday night the whistles could blow differently. who know

I dont think any of the team will blow UConn away but in a close game it could be up for grabs but the UConn players are use to sticky situation. No one never had to be "clutch".

The other teams must have good outside shooter to have a chance #Dayton... and Im not sure they do.

but the games must be played, grab some popcorn and enjoy!

I agree - I thought the first half the refs allowed everything and then half way through the second half when Baylor finally decided to 'fight back' they got away with mugging while suddenly Louisville was being called for a lot of touch fouls. All in all I thought it was a terribly officiated game that Louisville probably benefitted from more than Baylor, but that Baylor lost the game because they had no plan B and were passive for most of the game - Kim would have done better to coach her team rather than rant at the officials for the first 30 minutes!

Totally agree UCMiami..... I was so disappointed at how strongly Kim dressed down the officials after the game.... not caring about a suspension, which she got. Thought she got the distinct benefit of her share of calls.....

After all we all know that officiating is a big achilles heel in WCBB..... everywhere i see Denise Brooks, Lisa Mattingly , Dee Kantner.... who else is there?!!!! Same people can't ref every game, and how many are in the pipeline.... drifting off topic.... would love to see more females officiating women's games.

LV has had a few chances to meet up with UConn but has come up short... no agreement is/was needed during March Madness just win your games and it will eventually happen

"It all started going down hill when Geno called UTs women's basketball program a lesbo factory"

Just curious. Do you have a link for that statement? I have never read that anywhere.

Its kind of obvious, isn't it ?

Tennessee passed the same law under Phil Bredesen in 2009. The language in the two bills are almost word for word identical. Appears that Indiana just copied and pasted Tennessee's law and they're catching hell for it.

If it was Nashville hosting the FF it would be TN catching hell rather than IN. The protesters are in Indianapolis rather than Nashville because all attention is on the former city rather than the latter because all attention is focused there right now due to the men's FF being held there this weekend.

I just watched the presser......Very difficult view.

As far as playing UConn goes, it would be nice if they both stopped behaving like children and get the game back on the yearly schedule. This he said she said thing is so tiresome...

I personally don't have a thing against UConn. Good squad.

How is it obvious? Do you think Auriemma hasn't had lesbian players - and coaches?

When did he supposedly say it and to whom?

But many LV fans and those close to the program think this was used in the recruitment of a very religious Maya Moore and her mother.

Can't be proven, of course.
But do you really think Pat (the biggest and best ambassador this sport has ever had) would cancel the sports best rivalry just because Maya got a trip to ESPNs facilities in Storrs?

Ever consider that Maya Moore and her mother were probably capable of determining that on their own?

I have long believed that it was reported to CPS that Auriemma had said that. I don't believe it to be true given the makeup of his teams and staff - however I don't discount that he may have said it in some wise ass "evil empire" way but I just wish if that is the case somebody would have had the sac to stand up and say who and when.

For the most part I agree with the above. I definitely think there is no downside to playing UConn. The more you play them, the more you learn about them, and the more likely you are to up your game. You have to play the best to be the best, and right now, they're the best.

From a strictly basketball POV, I agree. The problem though is all the baggage Geno brings along. He spent years trash-mouthing the entire LV organization and some of the players specifically. I was behind the Tennessee bench after one game when he heard someone say something and he starts yelling "No F***ing Class" at the Tennessee coaching staff. He's 20 feet away from Pat Summitt yelling this at her. After he realized a fan in the stands was responsible for the comment and not a Tennessee player, he shut up and when questioned about it at the press conference he said it was all a misunderstanding. After his negative rant last summer about how he couldn't give a rip if he ever played Tennessee again, it is clear this man hasn't moderated his rhetoric with respect to his feelings about Tennessee. He says you can't run away from what you are. He is correct.

In support with the end result of the comments here....i.e. do not need to play them, talk about them or anything else.... we are fine on our own

The problem is that the baggage doesn't go away. At least not until we play them a few times. The best thing would be to play them and get past all the issues of the past.

So you go to both the UConn board and the volnation board and then you get concerned that we are obsessed with other teams. Think about that for just a moment.

I am "Hoops Lover" you know. I enjoy ALL hoops, even if its watching that horrid offense of yours. :dance2:

Didn't one of your fellow boneyarders just start a thread b!tching about why there was no thread about the UConn vs. Texas game?

Since Tennessee is out and there are only so many "Fire Holly" threads that one can start, it does seem natural on a message board to discuss how we think this weekend's FF games will go.

But on to more important things...what the h3ll are you doing here? Do you really need to seek validation for UConn? You guys are doing well enough that it's not necessary to constantly check what the Tennessee fans have to say about your team.

Seriously...insecure much?

But just in case you're lost and need directions home...please use the following link: UConn Women's Basketball | The Boneyard
