The returners are picking up where they left off (for better or worse), save for Edwards who has been mostly a no-show thus far. I think Fudd was oversold. She looks like she will be another KML, which isn't necessarily a dig at her. But there is little doubt that this will be Paige's team until she graduates, with Azzi riding shotgun.

The biggest surprise for me is how pedestrian Dorka has been. She should be the player that creates a lot of mismatches in favor of UConn against the majority of teams, but she looks out of her element in spite of playing against a high level of competition when she was at OSU. It's like she's lost if she's not the go-to player.

The post players were 6 for 21 and that is going to be the biggest factor for them going forward. If that is all the scoring they can get, and it has been a problem in several games this season, they are in for a lot of close games tough games. That then leaves Westbrook and Williams until other players return and they are capable of big games or totally terrible games. Last night went 10 for 29 which in some games going forward could be the same or they are also capable of 20 for 29. Of course I'd like to see them lose seven or eight games, but the Big East is not a strong conference and their remaining tough games minus SC are at home. At this point I'm going to put their loss total at around 4 or 5 games. They will lose to SC and maybe Louisville at home. Possibly a Big East game. I think we can handle their present team don't know how well we will do on their home court with Bueckers and Fudd back healthy. Long season teams get better or worse have to see which way they go.

For the record, I TOTALLY AGREE with everyone about Auriemma depending on Bueckers way too much at the detriment of failing to develop his bench. He has been doing that for years, and has only this month finally come back to bite him on his ample @ss. This part, I enjoy. Believe me, I do. I hate that kids have had to get hurt to make him look dumb for having that strategy, but it is what it is.

Absolutely a lot of games left. I have to wonder whether Bueckers will be fully recovered by the time we play them up there. Maybe she is so good she will be able to hit the ground running after many weeks of inactivity. Maybe not and she heals like an average person would and will not be ready until later in the season.

The 6-21 post stat is misleading, because ONO had a fairly productive game...at least for the first 3 quarters. Edwards and Juhasz were both awful, and DeBerry looked lost on defense (but seemed to know how to make a move on offense when she got the ball).

I still think Tennessee can beat UConn even with their full roster. It hinges on 3 things:

1.) Tamari has to stay out of foul trouble. The minute she's off the court, that opens it up for Williams and Westbrook to take it to the basket all day.
2.) UConn can't be hot from deep. Bueckers and Fudd have shot the 3 well, and Ducharme/Westbrook are dangerous from out there.
3.) Make your open layups and open jumpers. Maybe they'll get the opportunity with second chance points, but there's not guarantee. ONO, Edwards and Juhasz are all big and capable rebounders. It won't be as easy to grab those o-boards.

If those three things pan out...and #1 and #3 are within the control of the team... I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Tennessee come out with a win.

I kind of feel the same way. 6-8 weeks seems very optimistic and best case scenario. She will likely have some rust. I also wouldn't be shocked to see her held out until the tournament...maybe until next year.

Connecticut always seems to have one of their more obscure players (like Griffin) have her break-out game against us. I'm curious to see if this will be the case this season. You're right about Tamari. She absolutely HAS to stay on the court and have a good-to-great game or else it could be a problem.

God, don't remind me. Griffin stole that game away from Tennessee 2 years ago. She completely dominated Key. I thought that once ONO went to the bench in foul trouble with no backup center on the team, then Tennessee would run away with it. Instead, a 6'1 guard comes in at C and totally took over. Really her one and only shining moment as a Huskie

There are posters here that would probably support using chat instead of game threads during the games to cut down on some of the over the top "the end is near" rollercoaster posts in the game thread.. I've never joined one of their chats, so I don't know if it's any better. I suppose it probably got pretty heated yesterday, and having those "woe is me"/"death to Geno" posts in the main board would have kept Nan up all night playing clean up.
I also believe they stopped having game threads because there's a poster who came from Rebkell (people who post over there know who I'm talking about) that was making individual game threads for every single WNBA game and alot of WCBB games. Imagine if someone here was making individual threads for 2022 recruits instead of it just being in a single thread.

I can’t see Geno playing her before she is physically ready to perform at a high level but if things are going south, he may feel like he has little choice.

Probably won’t.

If he has spent little time developing depth, that’s on him. I expect it is much like what happened to the LV’s when they lost their star. Inexperienced players were put on the floor and it is taking time for them to learn to play together.

Geno has to be worried about his team folding so embarrassingly. That is a sign of little on floor leadership. Can someone once again summarize the high school rankings of those that are playing now? Seems like their roster is filled with top 10 players so if it’s not talent……

I doubt he'll risk the next 2 years with his Golden Goose.

Even if he did develop depth, I'm not sure any of the uninjured players would have helped much. Maybe Ducharme, but she's the kind of player that usually needs a year or 2 to adjust to the college game. Don't care that Mir was an AA. She's not top 10 team starting material.

But then again, Mir could end up being the star when we play them. I wouldn't be surprised, given our history.

The UCONN intimidation factor is completely gone now. Anyone can beat them, and I think we can too!
It's completely gone...until they start getting some of their injured players back. Even getting Muhl back would be a huge boost for them since it gives them back a true PG. If Edwards gets back to last year's form...and she probably will...then they will be back to being a PITA for any team that isn't SC.

Chemistry problems. That’s why they all came over here and jumped down my throat that it wasn’t true when I started posting that a month ago. They can see it too and I’m sure some of them know what’s going on.

I have a very, very strong feeling that Fudd will wear different colors next season. They have 3-4 egos on this current team that are driving a wedge. The UCONN coaches and fans can say whatever they want about EW but we know….

“A woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong it is until it's in hot water.” -Eleanor Roosevelt

Lady Vol fans have seen EW in the pressure cooker up close and personal. She can’t handle it and she becomes divisive in the name of self protection. They all say this is “Momma Es” team but I think Bueckers is the de facto leader, total disconnect there. Toxic.
Geno was wise to keep Momma E and that loose cannon of hers away the 🎤. Husky Nan said that a couple of players were crying after the game but plenty of players have been interviewed after crying over a loss.
