UF Staff Update Thread

Muschamp is going to be the real DC so it doesn't matter regardless. I'd bother more with A) filling out the defensive staff with very solid position coaches and have one as DC in name, and B) hiring a great OC.

Smart has not accepted the offer yet but its his if he wants it.

As far as the recruiting=succeeding in the SEC comment, check how successful the coach previous to Meyer was at UF and he was a great recruiter.

gatas r kewl!

Lol, No. It is impossible to be cool in Jorts. Being a Gator is like getting the gold metal in the special olympics even though you won something, you are still retarded. (Disclaimer: This is in no way shape or form directed at special olympic athletes as I truly admire their courage to go out and do something they truly enjoy and have fun even with their handicaps, It is totally directed at how dillusional Florida fans have gotten since they started playing football in 1990.)

Apparently CWM and Smart played together at UGA, and are close. But I think Smart should stay at AL and wait for HC job.

They did not play together. According to their Wikipedia bios, Muschamp played at UGA from '91-'94, followed by Smart from '95-'98.

here are some links from GatorSports.com

One of ESPN’s twitter accounts, ESPN_MobileCFB, posted a few minutes ago that Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart “is reportedly to leave for same job at Florida.” We can’t find any official confirmation, but according to TideSports.com (The Tucsaloosa News), the job has been offered. According to The Tuscaloosa News, Smart and Muschamp have been in discussions about the job in recent days. Read more here. And stay tuned.

ESPN jumped the gun on the KS news just like they jumped the gun on Gruden to UM and Malzahn to Vandy. Until there is an official announcement from the coach or school, I would take any reports with a grain of salt.

just passing the info on from GC believe whatever you like. If Smart wasn't thinking about it then he would come out and say it.

Actually, I think Saban pretty much keeps his assistants quiet. The only reason Smart would come out publicly is if he were taking the job. Just like the Peterson rumors that he was the new HC but was waiting a few days for it to be announced, this makes no sense. If they have coaches in place, it would have been made public already. Rumors are junk.

No one really had info besides Foley speaking with Petersen. Also, why would they name coaches before WM has even had his press conference? Nothing will come out until tomorrow. Going to be some good names on the list for the money Foley is throwing out...Meyer saved UF 3mill not including coaches.

According to the Tuscaloosa News, Smart has been offered the job but is leaning toward staying at Alabama.

Muschamp will be formally introduced as UF's new head coach at a 6:30 p.m. news conference today. At that time, Muschamp could reveal some members of his coaching staff, which he has been working to put together since accepting the job Saturday.
