UF Staff Update Thread

Can UF have CUM and staff remain to coach the bowl game, but have the new staff out contacting recruits? Seems like that violates lots of important rules?

Gatorsports articles.

With new Florida coach Will Muschamp hitting the recruiting trail on a dead sprint, things went from gloomy for the Gators’ 2011 class to chipper in a matter of days. Muschamp has been in contact with most of Florida’s committed players and uncommitted targets since taking the job Saturday

Florida’s biggest recruiting news in the last week didn’t come in the form of a commitment, it came in a reaffirmation. The Palm Beach Post first reported Sunday that Oviedo Hagerty quarterback Jeff Driskel is still committed to Florida after speaking with new coach Will Muschamp.

Muschamp is already on the road recruiting for Florida, and it would make sense for Muschamp to make the rounds in Texas for Florida's 2011 recruiting class.

Don't think UF can get away with still having CUM and staff coach the bowl game and have a whole additional staff recruiting?

Note: There is another thread discussing this topic in same forum.

Muscamp can recruit because of the openings of Austin and Dan Mac...the only thing that he must limit is in-home visit because of Meyer. they have to keep track of those because it could result in a violation....Rich Rod and Mark Richt both were recruiting before they were officially HC. Also, NCAA changed the how coach in waiting are able to recruit because of WM and Jimbo so their team at the time removed the title to get around the NCAA rule.

Akina was the first name mentioned for DC whenever Muschamp was hired. As for Thompson, he was the DC at UCF for a very brief period before he was demoted because of poor production. He knows what he is, a good LB coach and good recruiter. He may leave for a lateral move but I'm not worried.

this trooper taylor prediction is looking better every day. Chomp chomp

Akina name was shot down from the start...another rumor that ESPN/twitter jump the gun on.

Exactly. Almost all of these names are nothing more than rumors. Anyone with any sort of connection to Muschamp, Texas, Alabama, LSU, Florida, or UGA has been rumored to be on his list.

in presser Muschamp said not one person has been offered a job and that he was in no rush to get it done. Said he probably would not have all/any of the positions filled by the bowl game.. He said he is going to run a pro style O and that he wants a coordinator w/ NFL and college coaching experience... And he hasn't decided if he wants to call the Dfense yet and it determines on who they hire... Another interesting name I heard them throwing around on the radio down here for offensive coordinator was Kerwin Bell.. he's done a heck of a job w/ JU...

He said he doesn’t have a specific timetable on completing his staff and didn’t rule out retaining members of Meyer’s staff. Muschamp said strength-and-conditioning coach Mickey Marotti has already accepted an offer to remain with the program.

“We’re going to make the best decisions we can for our staff,’’ Muschamp said. “I’ve talked extensively with Urban about the coaches [here]. We’ll evaluate those guys in the coming weeks before the bowl game.

“But nothing is going to be done, in my opinion right now, before the bowl game as far as coaches that will be hired, retained, or whatever.’’

Honestly, though, it seems weird that Muschamp can be out recruiting but Urban and his staff can coach the team in the bowl.

Uf has two spots open on the coaching staff with Dan Mac and Ausin leaving...nothing wrong with it...he's just limited by the in-home visit but Meyer doesn't do them this early so that doens't matter.

Lol, No. It is impossible to be cool in Jorts. Being a Gator is like getting the gold metal in the special olympics even though you won something, you are still retarded. (Disclaimer: This is in no way shape or form directed at special olympic athletes as I truly admire their courage to go out and do something they truly enjoy and have fun even with their handicaps, It is totally directed at how dillusional Florida fans have gotten since they started playing football in 1990.)

This post is too good to be true.

I saw that CWM said he wanted an OC with NFL and College experience. Who fits that criteria? Please don't tell me he is coming for CJC?

There are several unemployed or soon to be unemployed offensive Oc's, QB coaches who fit that description.

Broncos Staff, perhaps Panthers in a month, Bengals maybe, just for starters. Wisenhut is choking in Arizona - its not like he didn't have time to plan on a new QB. Vikings may go with a whole new staff as well.

the names that are coming up from different beat writers are Alex Van Pelt(TB QBC)
Garrick McGee(OC Arky),Al Borges, Mike Shula, and Scot Loeffler....sleeper names are Jedd Fisch(QBC/PGC Seahawks) and Lincoln Riley(OC East Car).
