Regardless of whether Silva trained and studied for Sonnen's takedowns is moot. Silva's reign is soon coming to an end. The first fight wasn't close. Chael will impose his will, fight his fight (again) and defend his title. This fight, just like the first, will not be close. The gangster from the mean streets of West Linn, Oregon will have his hand raised and have the best seat in the house for Anderson's translated retirement speech from the mouth of the hated Ed Soares. And it will be well worth the $54.99 to see it live on PPV.

It's certainly possible that Sonnen will win.

He can easily tag Silva and pummel him to a win.

I just don't think fight 2 will be the same as fight 1 what so ever.

What I really took from watching fight 1 was that Silva just looked awful and Sonnen beat the piss out of him but it still wasn't enough. It's not like Silva rebounded from a 1st round beat down, he took everything Sonnen threw at him for 4 rounds and was still able to finish Sonnen in the 5th round. That's how you know Silva is on a special level. Again, I'm not a Silva fan at all but not many fighters can get their face smashed in and then respond in the 5th round like it's nothing.

We'll see, sould be a good fight. Honestly, it could be a quick fight for that matter.

I'm just not sure fight 1 is indicative of what fight 2 will be. Maybe it will be though?? Who knows. I'm guessing Silva will be more prepared. He's 14-0 for a reason in the UFC with 5 KO's, 4 TKO's and 3 Submissions. He's finished 12 of 14 fights. That's impressive.

I really don't think Sonnen will be able to continually take Silva down like he did in the first fight. I think Silva is going to prepare for that to no end.

Also, if you watch the fight again... Silva really did nothing to Sonnen in the first two rounds and Sonnen's eye was really messed up to start the 3rd round. By the final round, he had a huge gash above his eye.

Even when it looked like Silva was getting destroyed, Sonnen still looked beat up at the end of the fight while Silva looked fine. Silva is just deadly and knows how to pick his spots. That's how he got the tap out in the 5th round. He really did come close to tapping out Sonnen in an earlier round too.

Going to be a good one.

I agree that Sonnen COULD win, but I don't see it happening at all. He's pushed too many of Silva's wrong buttons. I wouldn't be surprised if Silva starts playing with Sonnen if Silva gets his confidence early in the fight.

The only reason I would want Sonnen to win is so there would be a third fight. There is no way Silva is going to retire if he loses.

Starting to think the smack talk is just to hype up the fight and sell tickets. For two guys that claim they absolutely hate each other, they sure did a lot of hugging at the end of their last fight.

Absolutely. Anderson, however, has never been known to hype a fight. Could it be that Ed Soares is the one who said those things about breaking Sonnen's everything? When a guy who clearly speaks english refuses to speak it in favor of a translator, who knows what the guy is really saying?

Just watched first episode of the UFC Primetime show with Sonnen & Silva. That was one of the best episodes of that show that I think I have seen. Sure, Sonnen is known for the wild stuff that he says, but he seemed very matter-of-fact and very intense. Can't wait for this fight.

I think this fight got moved off of the 147 card in Brazil because of the fear for Sonnen's safety. I never heard anyone come out and say that, but it had to be an issue.

Whether you love or hate Sonnen, the guy knows how to hype a fight. I'm going to be rooting for him against Anderson, but I don't think his chances are very good. (although they are better than anyone else AS has fought lately)

Anderson Silva, Chael Sonnen nearly trade blows promoting UFC 148 - ESPN

"You tell Anderson Silva I'm coming over and I'm kicking down his back door and patting his little lady on the (butt), and I'm telling her to make me a steak, medium-rare, just how I like it."

"All I can tell you is that Chael of today can beat up Chael of two years ago, and Chael two years ago stomped this bum." - Sonnen

"The comments he made about my wife, the comments he made about my country were very disrespectful, not only to me but also to the country and also the UFC. We're very elite top athletes and we shouldn't be talking like that about each other."

"Chael tested positive for steroids, he offended a nation, he's been charged with a crime. How can you take anything this guy says for real? This guy is ridiculous." -Silva

At this point, I actually hope Silva ends Sonnen's career. The guy scammed money from little old ladies, took steroids and now he's referring to himself in third person.

This fight can't come soon enough.

This fight can't come soon enough.

First, Sonnen never tested positive for steroids. He never tested positive for any substance.

Second, Sonnen is attempting to pick a fight with a coward. He has tried to call out the champion for quite some time. While his tactics border on rude, hilarious, and honest, it still hasn't forced the "pound-for-pound" best in the world to want this fight. Dana White had to force Anderson to fight Chael.

What kind of champion gets to pick and choose who he fights? One who is afraid.

UFC's Chael Sonnen tests positive for steroids, commission revokes license - ESPN
The California State Athletic Commission suspended UFC middleweight title contender Chael Sonnen for one year Wednesday after revealing he tested positive for steroids following a loss to Anderson Silva last month in Oakland.

Anderson Silva is a coward? He's 14-0 and has finished 12 of his 14 fights in the UFC. Now let's compare that to Sonnen who is 5-2 in the UFC with 4 wins coming by decision. And he was submitted in both of his losses.

If Silva was winning all of his fights by decision like Sonnen, then you might have an argument to call him a coward. Seriously, the guy has 1 win in the UFC that wasn't by decision. I'd say if we're comparing the two by merit alone, Sonnen would be more of a coward. Silva does his fighting in the ring, Sonnen does his fighting with a microphone

On top of Silva actually finishing fights, he's fought much better fighters. Sonnen lost to Damian Maia, Silva beat Maia. Sonnen beat Yushin Okami by decision, Silva knocked Okami out. Sonnen beat Nate Marquadt by decision, Silva knocked Marquadt out. And when it came down to it head to head, Silva submitted Sonnen. It doesn't matter how he did it, point is, it's hard to call Silva a coward when he's beat everyone Sonnen has fought, only worse and then beat Sonnen straight up.

Also, Silva doesn't pick and choose his fights. He just prefers to fight in his country. That's how most of the PPV's are set up. If he were picking his fights, it wouldn't really matter anyways. He's already cleaned house in the division. That's why he's fought Franklin twice, Okami twice and now he's going to fight Sonnen twice. There is nobody else. So it really wouldn't matter if he's picking fights because anybody he picks, he's already beaten.

It doesn't really matter though, we're obviously on different sides of the fence. I hate Sonnen(you like him?) and it sounds as if you hate Silva(I'm not even a fan) so really there isn't much left to be said other than you think Silva is a coward and I think Sonnen is a cheating thief. We could probably leave it at that because I'm not sure what else we could say :p

I'm saying Silva is a coward because he does not want to fight Sonnen. After over 2 years of Chael trying to pick a fight, Dana had to force Silva to fight Chael. Hell, Silva said in the press conference yesterday that he didnt think Chael deserves to fight him.

Personally, I think Silva has serious doubts on whether he can beat Chael again and that is why he has ducked him for over two years.

Also, Chael didnt test positive for steroids. He had an elevated T:E ratio that was outside the norm. The guy has to use TRT due to his health. I don't consider that cheating.

It's cheating when you do it without the permission of the athletic commission that sanctions the fight. Also, his levels were absurdly high. Alistair Overeem's were only at 10:1 ratio, and look at all the flak he got.

Silva's going down.

Unrelated, I just saw Sonnen on ESPN and he has to lose 20 lbs in the next 27 hours to make weight. Crazy

Want Sonnen to win, but Silva is just the best..........he wont have soft ribs in this fight either, so I think Silva will take it early

Sonnen honestly believes he is the better fighter, and has supreme confidence that he is going to win. Anderson hasn't fought anyone with that mindset in a long time. Anderson is probably going to win, but it's going to be a grind. This is not going to be anything like the Okami, Belfort, Maia, or Griffin fights.
