I'd be careful underestimating the GOAT. I want to see this fight happen so bad...and so does Dana.

Though I agree I think he'd be dangerous to Jones, looking at what Jones did to Sonnen I think he'd smoke Silva. The crazy thing is Jones stands with you and beats you on your feet if that's what you're good at it. He'll grapple with you and beat you on the ground if that is what you are good at. Imagine if he went with game plans that played to his greater strength?

It's pretty obvious that Anderson called Dana and wants to fight Jones. I think he sees holes in his game that he can exploit, otherwise I don't think he would be requesting the fight. Jones almost got submitted by Belfort, and I really think Anderson would have to catch him in a submission to win. Although, Jones has never really been punched either, other than one good lick Machida got in. We still don't really know how well he can take a punch. Anderson and Jones are the Top 2 P4P fighters, IMO. I definitely would give Jones the edge head-to-head, but I give Anderson way more than just a "puncher's chance".

I just watched the Cain vs Bigfoot match from last year, i forgot how bloody that match was. Blood was pouring out of Bigfoot's face. I hope their next match is more competitive.

Yeah I remember my wife had to quit watching because the amount of blood was making her squeamish. What was amazing was the gash on Bigfoot's forehead was fairly small, which you never would have thought with how much he bled out.

As far as their fight goes, Cain was maybe even more dominant against JDS. I would be shocked if this fight isn't more of the same. Cain has looked unbeatable his last 2 fights.

Just searched Shane Carwin and man... so disappointing.

In about one month and 10 days time, it will be 2 years since Carwin's last fight. His last fight was June 11th, 2011. Man, I loved watching him knock people out.

At least Shogun fights Nog on June 15th I guess.

UFC needs more Shane Carwin's and Shogun's.

Nothing like a good knockout :)

He got his face beat up like a meat patty that evening.

Carwin had some heavy hands, but his cardio was terrible. If you could make it through the 1st Round with him, it was almost guaranteed victory.

I think it will be more competive since Bigfoot now knows what's coming. However I still believe Cain will win by ground and pound. For the past 3 years I've thought that if the UFC were to go old school and have a tournament with no weight classes Cain would destroy everyone.

I wish they would do that, no titles involved. Just the best of the best in a tournament. But i know it will never ever happen

Completely agree. Anderson biggest disadvantage in this fight will be his take down defense. I think stand up wise Anderson is a league above Jones. He will be able to find his range just like the good strikers have found it against Struve in the HW division.

An open weight class tourney is a turrible idea. It worked in the old days cause guys were specialists, and nobody knew what to do with bjj. Now that guys are versed in every aspect, bigger guys would dominate 95% of the time.

What about an open weight tournament that's capped at 265. I'd like to see that. Even middle weights today walk around at 220, while some HW fight at 235. I think there would be some interesting upsets.

I'm more worried about Frankie fighting Overeem, than a 300lb guy fighting in the tourney. He would cave Frankie's face in. Realistically I think the champs at their respective classes, could beat some guys in the class above them. But if they face the top 4 in the next class they probably lose. Fighting a guy 2 classes higher would just be ugly. IMO Silva would be the only exception, I think he could beat every LHW not named Bones. Bones would get wrecked by Cain, JDS, Bigfoot, and Reem. IMO

You could devise a bracket were the smaller weight classes would lose out before they would ever face someone in LHW or HW. I think Aldo could pull off a fight in welterweight. He has plenty of space on that body to put on muscle. He would just have to do it right over a long period of time to not lose much speed, and he is still tall enough to take a fight in that division.
