UK is a dangerous game.

They are one of the top teams in the nation on Defense? How is that not SEC quality

#2 in Scoring defense and #2 in total defense in the SEC. We also will play Tennessee differently than Bama did defensively. Plus when that game is close late, Neyland will pucker down to the size of a keyhole.

we get it you beat Alabama, blah blah. We are not slow on defense. Trust me.
Umm, that fella didn't bring up the fact that we beat Bama. Didn't even mention them.

You brought that up. Which indicates it is worrying you. You know, that we beat a team that is well beyond yours.

It's chewing at the back of your brain, isn't it? That you're about to face that kind of ferocious resolve and talent.

It is not truly your fault. I blame the college football media. They love narratives. So in the off-season, as they were all sitting around brainstorming narratives to pursue in the 2022 season, one of them glommed onto this idea that Will Levis is a superstar, Mark Stoops a quiet genius, and Kentucky a sleeping giant. And that fella, whoever he was, was joined by a handful of others in this made-up narrative, and they talked you guys up, big-time. Talked you right up to a #7 ranking.

And you fell for it.

Not just you, either. There was an UGa fan on these boards talking way back in mid-September about how Kentucky could show up in Athens undefeated on the 19th of November to "decide the SEC East." Heh.

I told that fella back then that you likely weren't going to escape the month of October without at least two losses. Turns out it is going to be three.

So now, now that your Dreamworks Studios vision of a magical season has come crashing down, you fall back to what delusional Kentucky fans fall back on every year: maybe we can at least beat Tennessee.

Son, you know that almost never (and I mean that literally, almost never) works out well for you. You know that, right?

So I don't care if you're faster on defense than you were a year ago. I don't care if you're fast enough on defense to give yourself little tingles of excitement and anticipation.

We are going to crush you. This isn't going to be a close game. It is not going to be "close late." We're going to stomp a mud hole in you.

Enjoy the game!

Go Vols!

Kentucky isn't any faster on defense that they were in 2021 or before.

I don’t understand why some of you are so scared of UK. Why? Levis is decent. That’s it. MSU? The clown pirate is a choke job. Their offense is nowhere near ours. Bama would beat UK by 4 TDs and probably wouldn’t score more than 3. UK poses zero threat to us.

This is the most underrated point to this argument. If Kentucky was playing Bama Saturday, would anyone in the country really think “Bama needs to be careful, KY is dangerous”?

No, we all know it would be a blowout. They’re not playing Bama this weekend, they’re playing the team that beat Bama.

You realize Bama was 2nd in the SEC in total defense before they played Tennessee right? Are you really implying that KENTUCKY is better than ALABAMA on Defense?

#1 in sacks allowed. A quarterback who doesn't run. How will you score when your QB is on his back all day?

They are a ranked team with pretty good defense and a good offense with Levis. They also have a bye week before TN week. They just beat a ranked Miss State team too. It would be easy for this team to look ahead to UGA and lay an egg against UK.

Just my thoughts.
An experienced and capable QB has me nervous with this secondary

I realize you can't compare one year's team with another and the only thing that counts is the final score but some sobering numbers from last year:

TOTAL YARDS.......UT 261 UK 612

Passing.................UT 316 UK 387

Rushing ................UT 145 UK 225

Furst Downs.........UT 17 UK 35

Turnovers..............UT 1 UK 1

TOP......................UT 13:52 UK 46:08

All irrelevant

That’s sad if MSU is your only signature win of the season so far.

But Stoops is great at piling up his wins against average to below average teams.

It is going to be an interesting game. UK knows UT is going to try to snuff their run and so will come out throwing the football, thinking they won't be blitzing early. UT is in a similar situation because Uk is going to sell out to stop the run early, they will probably take what is given and come out passing as well. It could be a high scoring 1st quarter.

Imagine being a Kentucky football fan since Stoops has been there.......

Every year you have some hope of being "good".....and you play in the SEC, so you know what good is. It's 10-2 or better, maybe you can stretch that to 9-3. 8-4, that's ok, but probably means you went 4-4 in the SEC.

Then, almost every year, you start our with some good signs. You get one win you probably shouldn't have (usually UF for some reason) and then roll through a few cupcakes, and what do you know, 4-0 feels pretty good! Then you play someone with some talent, you're 4-1, and things are still ok, then 4-2, then 4-3.....and as you look at the schedule you see a couple near certain losses, now all of the sudden that we're going to be good turns into.......if we only do this we can be bowl eligible and play at some frozen hell bowl in December.

It's a lot like Tennessee under Butch Jones, remember those years? Remember 2016? That's every freaking year since Stoops has been at UK, and before Stoops got there......it wasn't actually all that bad, you hoped you pulled of a win or two every year and waited til basketball season.

And now you don't even have basketball. You're paying a terrible coach $1B a year, and the football school a little south of you that has kicked your ass for 50 years in football is taking you down on the hardwood too.

It's alright Cat fans, we sort of understand how you feel....we had some rough years. We understand disappointment. There is one big difference though, we remembered what it was like to be good because we have been there. It's just a constant dream for you, and one that isn't ending anytime soon........and definitely not Saturday night.

I’m no mathematician, but those numbers ain’t adding up. Looks like it should be 461 total yards.
I think(hope) we will play much better defensively this year. If we can limit their rushing yards and get them behind in the score early, it will make them one dimensional and it might be a runaway. If we can’t stop the run then it could be a frustrating night.
Yes, my mistake.....should have been 461 total yard offense for us
