UNC and Duke Basketball, 2015-16

I don't think you understand it. Duke won't name anyone the fans want. I still think there's a chance Hurley gets looked at if he can turn around ASU, but Capel is the odds on favorite. Like imagine the odds of a Sixers-Warriors game and Capel is the Warriors.

It's definitely Capel. There were some reports earlier this week basically confirming it. He's not my first choice, but it was him who had the idea to have Ingram bring the ball up and run the offense thru him a lot more, so I will give Capel credit for that.

I'm not referring to the fans. I'm saying the administration could have anyone but realize they won't. It was always gonna be out of the Duke tree but Capel shouldn't be the choice. I agree on Hurley. Also think he should've held out for something "better". Hurley's strength is his NE/East Coast ties IMO and that won't be as easily displayed at ASU. Although he's managed to pull a kid from Maine and VA in this year's class.

If you think anyone other than K is making the decision then you are misguided. I'm not sold on Capel as a coach, but Duke would not have won the title without him and would not be the favorite next year either.
He is an elite recruiter and has head coaching experience.

I agree that Capel is the likely successor, but I'm probably going to continue to point out that he's a godawful coach when his name gets brought up. When I see his name, the first thing I think about is what a bad head coach he is. I can't help it.

I envy Arizona and their willingness to go get Sean Miller after their legendary coach retired.

That's the most complete game I've seen UNC play since probably the title game against MSU back in '09.

That was simply amazing to watch. It reached a point about midway through the second half, where my wife and I agreed that we were actually starting to feel sorry for Notre Dame and its players. They almost looked like some silent slapstick comedy at times.

And hello there, Mr. Paige! Good to see you again. Stick around; we've really missed you.

I would consider K part of the administration; he's an athletic department employee. I don't give two ****s who Duke hires or who does the hiring. Point is, Capel's resume is less than impressive. He's an ace recruiter yet managed only 2 NCAAT at OU with all the talent.

No one is disputing that. But he's the favorite to get the job. By a WWWWWWWWWWWWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE margin

So what is latest in North Carolina investigation? Is it still going on, I have not heard anything. Seemed like they told the NCAA to take a hike and they did.

I'm not disputing anything either. I made a simple comment; Duke could have anyone they desire and instead they'll choose Capel, which is a weak hire on paper. My original comment has evolved into way too much debate for the shallow, surface comment that it was.

I could obviously be proven wrong, but my longstanding thesis on the matter is that the NCAA is purposefully taking so long so as to punish UNC without actually punishing them. The long speculation of sanctions has probably hurt our recruiting somewhat (there's no denying it certainly hasn't been what it was in the past, before this happened), yet not as much as actual sanctions might.

In the end, I think we get a couple of scholarship reductions, maybe a one year postseason ban, and then we all move on to the next school that will be revealed to have been doing the same thing.

Of all the ways I thought UNC could possibly beat UVA, a hard bargain no matter what, beating them at their own game was not one of those ways.

I know we were the 1 seed, and that for a reason, but pound for pound that may be the best UNC ACC Tournament performance I can remember. They just straight jacked-up people with their defense. I knew some analysts, like Bilas and Jay Williams, have said in the past that UNC has that kind of defensive potential in them, but I never really thought it possible.

Ol' Daggum' Roy still evidently has a little left in the gas tank after all. We'll see how they do in the tournament, but this team does not have nearly the margin of era that the last two UNC title teams did. That '09 team, in particular, only had to show up. This team will have to fight and claw, but, if they continue to play on both sides of the court, as they did in D.C., then they can most certainly win it all.

I said in the first post of the thread that UNC would win 26 regular (they won 25), that they would finish first in conference and win the ACC, and that they would be the third overall number 1 seed (and I think that's exactly what they will be come tomorrow evening). I may as well keep to my national semifinal now too, but I'm hoping for more.

Congrats on the W. That's a tough, ballsy type of win. That's how you finish and accomplish what you're capable of in March and April.

They finally played an extended stretch of time, games even, with a chip on their shoulders. And now that they've seen how that can payoff for them, I hope they'll keep it up.

As mentioned all season, Carolina can play like the best team in CBB, but they can also play like the 20th best team. I don't think it matters what kind of draw y'all get, you can go all the way. Roy could Roy though and both Duke and Carolina will be chilling at home for week two.

Honestly, I don't think there's an between for Carolina: Final Four or first week exit. Unfortunately, I'm going to predict a Final Four.

Incredibly tough bracket for Duke. Worst #1 seed, but definitely toughest 2-6 so far.

I'm surprised MSU didn't get the one nod. I thought they'd get the second overall one seed with a Big Ten tournament win, knocking UNC down to the third in the process. Virginia, who is a somewhat questionable one nod as well (although statistical examination of their record reveals them to be much better than their overall win-loss record), will definitely have a lot on its hands with a 2-seeded MSU to face.

Oregon is fool's gold. I don't trust any team that comes out of the Pac 12 or the new Big East, even the ones with great records. I probably shouldn't say this without first consulting their schedule this season, but I wager that Oregon played virtually no one in the pre-conference slate as well. It wouldn't surprise me if the 8 or 9 seed tosses them. Now, Oklahoma may be a handful in that region though.

Oregon played the 3rd toughest schedule and has more top 50 wins than any team in the country except for Kansas and has 12 wins over teams in the field of 68. They may fizzle out but their resume and #2 RPI speak for themselves.
