UNC Basketball, Part Deux

I'm late to the party, but did you guys realize the ACC title game is Saturday night? I didn't. That pretty awesome, much better than Sunday at noon.

We're basically on the old Big East tourney schedule now, or at least something resembling it very closely.

I don't like it. I remember as a kid either (a) being signed out of school at 11:00 or (b) having a TV wheeled into the classroom, around mid-day on a Friday to watch the opening session of "the tournament." I cannot even fathom that it starts on Tuesday now.

I have the same memories from grade school through high school. It was always great when the ACC tournament started. I don't like how early it starts, but a Saturday night final gives it the venue it deserves. I mean Duke/UNC or another big time kind of game on a Saturday night makes it that much bigger.

Yep, nothing quite like that Friday afternoon back when the conference was a 9-horse wagon.

Well, I see they've changed the iconic paint scheme at Greensboro. Eh, I can live that. It was getting a bit dated looking, in my opinion.

It's different, but I'm coming around to it. It's not that outrageous, geographically. Honestly, Louisville and Notre Dame are the only ones that don't make exact geographical sense.

Just wait till the tournament gets played in MSG. I don't know if they've settled it for sure, but there's been talk about rotating it around 4 venues up the Eastern seaboard. NYC, Baltimore/Washington (I think), Greensboro/Charlotte, and Tampa (I think). Honestly, none of those bother me, accept the Tampa one. I know people going there might like the weather, but that's a boring venue for ACC basketball, in my opinion. People in Florida just really don't care that much. The local flavor to it would be null most likely.

Well, my little NC Stupid Facebook friends are up in arms because the WWE apparently wants to trademark the NWO hand gesture, which, obviously coincidentally, just happens to look like the Wolfie hand gesture.

I told them to relax, because they still do that little barky thing with it.

If by some accident of fate, I had been born into a Stupid house, I still would refuse to do that Wolfie barky gesture.

How grown men do that is beyond me.

The only time I think it's even remotely appropriate is when you're using it to make fun of State fans.

Is Flounder not playing today?

Is that what you goobers call Meeks? Well, I guess he does kind of look floundery. No, he's injured. Something about his foot.

That Clemson/FSU game ended up being a lot better than it seemed at first. FSU looked to have ran away with it, but Clemson brought it back to the last seconds.

Sorry, it's one of my non-teaching days, so I can peek in on games in between other work.

No just this goober. I thought he had a similar appearance to Flounder other than the obvious difference. Fat, slow and a bum foot is no way to go through the postseason.

Regulator is right. He's had a fever all week but tested negative for mono and strep. If we hold on today, hopefully he can play tomorrow. Pinson was questionable and was a game-time decision, re-aggravated his foot injury.

I guess I'm getting my Carolina post-regular season injuries and illnesses mixed up.

Which is to say: nothing new to see here.

Do you guys want an "ACC Tourney Thread," or do you just all want to keep it here?

Honestly, I just want to keep it here. Less complicated. I can only multi-task so much.

Here. In the spirit of the ACC tournament give me your starting 5 most feared players from ACC opponents not from UNC or Duke .

Pg. Randolph Childress
Sg. Juan Dixon
Sg/sf. Rodney Monroe/ Tom Gugliotta
PF. Tim Duncan
PF/C. Joe Smith

UNC Player: Antawn Jamison.

Well, that was about as clear as mud.

Who's your avatar, by the way?

Oh yeah, sorry about that. It was meant as an "aye" to your second sentence.

My avi is a somewhat "current" picture of the person who inspired my username. My user title and location are also related to this. If that's too cryptic, or you just want more straightforward details, just let me know.

Paige is in a zone here in the second half (not just shooting, either). Hope it continues all weekend!

I know nobody cares about nc state but I'm using this as a substitute for an ACC tourney thread.

The thing I hate about jay Bilas is that hell make a proclamation on a foul call - and even though the immediate replay proves him clearly wrong - he would NEVER admit it. So annoying

No, we do not care for NC Stupid around here.

Yes, this is the unofficial home of the ACC Tournament.

I actually like Bilas, even if he is a privileged Dukie butt lawyer. I didn't watch the game too closely though.

On a related note, I did hear him and McDonaugh say they liked NC Dumbass's unis. They could have played in Katy Perry Super Bowl mechanical tiger-things, and I would have been more impressed.

Ugly.

Cryptic **** needs to remain some cryptic ****.

It's like watching "Independence Day."

Do you really want to know where them aliens came from?

I didn't think so.

Ugly.

I've seen him do it a number of times - give a knee jerk proclamation about a terrible or blatant call - only to be immediately proven wrong by the replay - but he'll maintain his stance.

The worst was a few years ago at the end of a Syracuse - GTown game where he blasted a ref for calling a foul at the end of the game - which was clearly a foul. It then morphed into a month long crusade about how (all but acknowledging he was wrong) refs should just swallow their whistles at the end of games - effectively picking and choosing when to enforce the rules and when not to. For someone supposedly as educated as he, it's a completely asinine position to take, but every season it keeps happening. Annoying
