Volprof the real mvp of this thread. Solid posting tonight. Was hoping UNC could do it, but Dookie is damn good. Like you said, they might make it to the 2nd round this year.

Good game Tar Heel fans (Volprof/Av 12 in particular ) you guys are great fans and worthy adversaries. I was really proud of the Tar Heel fans for being so classy with the Coach K presentation. I think the Duke guards are outstanding and the reason why this team is different than some of the recent squads that have underachieved.

Edit: left out Regulator.

I wouldn't have thought this just a year or two ago, but I wouldn't be surprised if Bennett from UVA gets a look at UNC. I'm not saying he would accept, and his style of basketball bores me to tears, but he's evidently a very good coach. I still can't name a single player on any of his teams that have won the regular season.

UNC obviously likes to keep it in-house, but I think UNC will need to seriously consider moving away from that model this time. I don't think there's anyone in the family that's good enough, at least at the moment.

Duke will just hire one of the current assistants or Collins/Dawkins.

So you think they are going try and slide Williams out the door? I can see them pushing a retirement angle, but firing him will be tough. Not too mention, I gotta think any possible replacements are hesitant to come to Chapel Hill until the NCAA finally says something about the academic issue.

I feel like I should divulge one other name that I purposely left out the other week when the question was asked. There's a legend currently enjoying his life in upstate New York that might be becoming the frontrunner. He never wore a business suit on K's bench, but no one has helped K coach a team like he did, let's put it that way.

Lol not Gotti, but a Polish guy with Chicago ties probably does have mob ties somewhere. This guy ranks somewhere between 2nd or 3rd most hated Dukie depending on how you view things.

I think Roy's on the bench for another 5-6 years anyway, so it's all a moot point, but as you've mentioned, there's not anyone in the "family" that deserves or could handle the job right now.

Give me Smart or Gregg Marshall.

What the heck has Bobby Hurley been doing? I know his father is a hall of fame high school coach, but I'm a bit confused by this.

Am I missing something?

Who's he coaching with now? I could have sworn I've seen his dumb face on some sideline somewhere. Is it Syracuse?
