UNC basketball

I will say this. I went to college at Elon university, I frequently travelled to both duke and unc. Actually dated a girl from duke and almost dated another after I broke up with the first. A very fun place. But oooohh the arrogance of them!!!

Unc folks were pretty dull but humble, the girls were just okay. Edge goes to unc.

Noice! UNC gals can be pretty insufferable, too, but hey.

I like the Elon area.

Congrats volprof, nice win.

A program as proud as UNC shouldn't ruwhensh personallythe court after beating anyone...ditto for Indiana, Kansas, UK or any of the blue bloods.

After the rollercoaster year they are having why is it a big problem? They beat thier hated rival when no one have them a chance.

UNC beat Michigan State, in East Lansing, when the Spartans were ranked #1.

It wasn't Chaminade beating Ralph Sampson's Virginia squad back in the day.

For real. Duke was favored by less than two points. All this David vs. Goliath stuff is exaggerated.

For perspective, Seattle over Denver in the Super Bowl was a bigger upset in Vegas than this was. Still a huge win for the Heels though. It's been a great week for their seeding in the tourney

Thanks, man. And my apologies for the intense Roy Rage you probably suffered last night.

I don't know, I'm of mixed feelings about storming the court. There are times when it's inappropriate. I don't necessarily see anything wrong with what UNC students did last night. Unranked team, up-and-down all year, biggest college bball rivalry, Duke top 5, etc. I think storming the court last night was justified, although it admittedly wasn't one of UNC's proudest moments. Take all of these factors into consideration and couple that with the fact that we're dealing with a bunch of hormone-crazed teens and early 20-somethings, and you have an understandable court storming. Just my opinion.

But honestly, saying "Dook canceled because they're scared of how bad we're going to destroy them," followed by, "OMG WHAT A SHOCKING MIRACLE THAT WE WON!" is kind of contradictory, no?

I know it's fan-speak, but just thought I'd point it out.

It's somewhat contradictory, but not so much when placed in context. The criticism that Duke was scared last week was mostly due to the thinking that the Dome would be mostly full of students instead of the typical crowd. In fact, UNC had announced at 4 or so that day that they were giving students additional seats since many boosters had called in that they wouldn't be able to make it. After the postponement it was clear that Duke would still be going against the typical crowd. We can debate about the credibility of this thinking, but I'm just putting it in context.

On a related note, I thought the crowd last night was amazing. One of the best UNC crowds I can remember.

UNC beat Michigabig deal of it is n State, in East Lansing, when the Spartans were ranked #1.

Who said it was? The only reason your making a big deal of it is because it's Carolina. Had it been anyone else you wouldn't care. I'm glad they did it. Regardless of school name.

And I still don't get the big hullabaloo about storming the court last night, but that's just me I guess.

You're North Freaking Carolina.

Nine Naismith Award Winners.

Dozens of 1st Team All-Americans.

Umpteen ACC Championships.

Five national titles.

Michael Jordan....Rasheed Wallace....Kevin Salvadori....

Other teams' student sections storm the court after upsetting UNC, not the other way around.

I'm glad you understand my point...it's a big deal because we're talking about North Carolina, not NC State or NC A&T.

You brought Salvadori into it. I love it. I'll add Matt Winstrom and Kris Lang to the group.

It was also a rivalry game where betting line really don't matter... Cry all you want, but Duke has a top 3 pick and another lotto pick, it was a big upset. UNC doesn't have anyone like that this year. Duke has guys like Matt Jones that would start at UNC this year, who didn't play. What about the little league World Series dog pile a few years ago, at UNC, when they(Carolina)had the 5 pros? If that's at Dook, that's a court storm no doubt In my mind.

When was the last time Duke's students stormed the court?

Okay, but I just see it differently. And Kevin Salvadori is awesome knowledge on your part. You were a Heel fan before Roy, weren't you?

Honestly, though, I just don't get this big stink. Are UNC students never to storm the court unless they're unranked and beat a number one team? Just because UNC's history is better than most, are UNC students supposed to remain calm and reserved after every game, unless they beat a number one team? In other words, every other college student gets to have fun by storming the court but not UNC students? I just don't get that thinking, but once again, that's just me.

I've thought this thing over long and hard after 5 Sam Adams here at the bar.

I stand by my assertion that UNC should never rush under no circumstance.

I withdraw my venomous words and apologize for being a dick.

Even though I'm right, in my own mind. Happy Friday night boys.

%#^# Louisville.

They're already on the court, so who cares. And furthermore, under K Duke has been ranked far more often than not. If they weren't ranked under him, then his back was bad. Once he leaves and one of his far inferior minions takes his place, I assure you that you'll see far more incidents of Duke students storming the court.

I've followed college basketball since Butch Lee went off on UNC back in '77. That was the first year I really got into the Final Four, and I've been hooked since. I was 7 years old. Jerome Whitehead was my favorite player back then.

I was a fan of the Jordan/KSmith/Daugherty team that didn't win in '85 but should have...ditto for the Rasheed/Vince Carter teams. Roy ruined all that after 2003.

I mean seriously, although I hate K and his bastardization of college bball, he's a damn good coach. But we act like we hold UNC up to the same standards over the last few decades as Duke. Okay, I get it. But difference is that UNC has went through 4 coaches during this time and Duke still has K. Once he leaves. And god knows when that will be. His black hair dye suggests maybe never. But once he does, things will be a lot different for the Dukies. No, they're not going away, but it will be a rough transition, as it is for every major program.
