UNC basketball

No I don't think they are that far apart at all. How can I after a couple of weeks ago and your 12 game ACC win streak? I was just commenting that you all have squeaked by in your last 3 games against sub-quality opponents. Granted 2 games were on the road and 1 being a rival, but basically every game has been a one possession outcome. I don't think UNC can win Saturday if they continue playing like they have for the past week. Nothing shocks me in this game though.

BTW are any of you UNC guys familiar with their Co/Offensive coordinator Gunter Brewer? He has some James Franklin qualities on Twitter. Thought he was kind of a prick.

I don't really keep up with UNC football that much. People can criticize me for it, but I'm officially a UT football/UNC basketball guy. Of course I still root for both schools in all sports though.

Regarding your comments on UNC, I agree that they've looked somewhat weak the last three games. The VT game in particular was shocking. Last night, eh, who knows. They may have just gotten the big head after the 15 point first half lead. I recall Kennedy Meeks sitting on the sideline in the first, yawning like he was ready for halftime so he could take a nap. The one good thing about this program is that they can turn the switch on in a hurry when they finally realize their asses are up against the wall.

Anyhow, regarding the poor play lately, Eric Montross said that the team has played 7 games in the last two weeks and that this has limited practice time. They should have a lot of practice this week before the game though. TIFWIW.

Yeah I'm really not liking you guys having that much time to rest and prepare for a 9pm Saturday game.

Dook going down to Wake... #1 seed lock now after loss?

They'll move up 6 spots in the poll to claim the first -2 ranking in college history after beating us in a tight one Saturday night.

Seriously though, I was not expecting this. But when you live by the three as Duke does unlike any other team historically, then this is what happens. Duke will be back and ready for vengeance Saturday night though. Honestly, as much as I hate Duke, this loss was probably not a good thing for UNC.

On another note, you have to feel bad for Wake fans. Terrible coach but he somehow manages to beat UNC and Duke. He'll keep his job because of that, and Wake will continue to suck.

I'm calling 15 made 3's saturday

We should have a running over/under bet on how many threes Duke will make Saturday night. haha! Honestly, I'm going with 22 3s. All-time record bull**** or something like that.

I almost responded to your post about Wake, but didn't think it was appropriate with the great article about Dean. LJVM is always a tough place to get a W, although I thought Duke would be ready tonight. Horrible performance. See you guys Saturday night.

Yeah, we lost to them there as well. No biggie. Happens to us all apparently. Trust me, you all will be ready come Saturday. Just get Sulaimon under control by then.

Well it's a biggie seeding wise. I fully expect that both teams will be ready to play come Saturday, probably too much. Suilamon played very well early on tonight, but it's almost as though he's trying too hard at times (if that makes sense). His on the ball D has been great, but he's getting the ball and forcing things instead of letting the game come to him, the prime example was the game in Chapel Hill. He is a real talent, and I fully expect him to be the primary defender of Paige on Saturday, he just needs to continue to adjust to his new offensive role as an athletic slasher and distributor of the ball. If Cook keeps up his level of play, or lack there of, RS is even more important to this Duke team than ever.

I have always been down on Cook, but I don't know what is going on with him.. He seems like an emotional kid so maybe this bench thing is getting to him... Especially when it is to Tyler Thornton.. Cook was playing well early this year, so I hope he waits one more game for the light to come back on.

I expect another fun game Saturday. I just hope the Heels match their intensity early.

He is a very emotional kid and his confidence seems to be completely destroyed at this point of the season. Duke may have to look at a different style of point guard play, ala Jon Scheyer, if they want to go deep into March, which is what I think they are trying to mold RS into right now.

I have a ticket. Boom! Look for me at Gameday tomorrow also.

I have no shame and used a hashtag.

I wonder if Mr. Oscars himself, Matthew McConau.....whatever will show up. Or maybe Peyton Manning again. Or maybe even Vlad Putin. You never know who'll show up in Durham for the UNC game.

Putin would probably feel more comfortable in Chapel Hill, and definitely feel right at home in Carrboro.

And we'd be honored to have him!

Well you are a university professor, many of your colleagues share very similar ideals as "President" Putin. It's not called the The Peoples Republic of Chapel Hill for no reason.

I could go off on an argumentative route 66 that suggests that Putin is some sort of autocratic czarist model or some sort of neo-fascist model (in other words, reactionary) but that's what the Politics forum is about. And, quite frankly, I'm tired and sleepy.

That's too bad. I was having a tough time getting to sleep last night. I think your take on Putin could've remedied that for me. Just kidding Volprof, I was just ribbing you and the reputation of Chapel Hill. I definitely will lurk in the Political forum, but rarely contribute.
