Uniform/Helmet/Shoe design thread (merged)

Someone mentioned that Jordans would be an option.

Well, for most Nike schools, Jordan basketball shoes are an option.

Hubbs is the one that first posted that rumor over on his site. I believe he misunderstood. Some of the gear that basketball will receive will be Jordan, that's not uncommon. Just like it's not uncommon for adidas schools to get Derrick Rose branded gear, as our football and basketball teams did this year.

1987. The year you're thinking that it was light blue. I don't care if you believe me or not. The trim around the football jersey numbers in 1987 was gray, not light blue.

They did not wear the gray-trimmed orange jerseys for the entire season. Best I can tell, it was only a couple of the games. Someone posted a color photo earlier in this thread.

I think we wore the outlines in the Cal game in 1987 that was televised on TBS.

How about what you like doesn't mean ****. Why clog up this thread with what you like. Won't make a difference.

I agree. As much as people want to post what "they" like, it's not going to be taken into consideration and ultimately Nike and UT make all the decisions. Wait till July 1 like everyone else.

I recall the Jerseys with the light blue outlines around the numbers in the Bama game in 1987. The jerseys were white with Orange numerals that were outlined in light blue. UT wore them on the third Saturday in October, and they were ranked in the top ten when they went to Legion Field and got crushed by a very average Bama team. Ray Perkins was the Bama coach.

I don't think UT ever wore them again after that game. It was Reggie Cobb's Freshman season at UT and he set a SEC record for the most TD's by a Freshman that year. UT went on to win 10 games that season with a victory in the Peach Bowl. Jeff Francis was the QB.

Maybe, they were grey, and my TV was off as that was years before HD, but I wasn't the only one who thought they were light blue as I recall having a conservation about it with my Uncle who is a huge Kentucky fan, and he was poking me about the addition of blue to the UT uniform!

I found one YouTube video with highlights of the game, but it's really hard to tell. It looks gray on the few shots close enough to see.

Like I said, I have seen game-worn jerseys from that year in person and it is gray, not blue. I am trying to get a clear photo of the actual jersey.

The orange version was worn against Cal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRrTjVB6FHE

The video isn't great here, but you can see the outlines in the Alabama game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGmrJGWCZ8c

Take a picture and post it.

Pretty sure it's gray. The orange jerseys for sure were gray, and the Alabama video is grainy but the few closeups I saw it looked gray. Plus it doesn't make a lot of sense that they would have gray on the orange jerseys but light blue on the white jerseys.

Like the new uniforms or not, at least we'll have something to talk about for a couple of weeks in July. Then fall camp starts.

I'm just pumped about the Nike team shoes that we'll be able to buy. I have last years Adidas team shoe and it's as stiff as a boot and kills my feet when I run in them. I'm sure Nike's will be nice and vented.

Nike typically does not make one "team" shoe available to the public like adidas has.

They do make special edition shoes for certain promotions, but they aren't widely available, usually in limited editions of less than 1,000.

Well they'll at least start using our color combo in merchandise which means official team shoe or not, there will be something out there to match.

If everyone was waiting til July 1, there wouldn't be 200+ pages in this thread. Of course Nike and UT make all the decisions, nothing anyone says on here has any bearing on anything we wear. Lighten up, its an opinion thread on a message board about shirts and pants.

I just can't even picture my Vols wearing "pointy" numbers on those classic orange jerseys.

Not a fan.

I'm going to hold my opinion until I see them, but I feel the same way. I am surprised that university signed off on that. But then again, I was surprised when we went to the small font size and number size. I can get used to anything that we are winning in, though. Jones respects and embraces UT's traditions but he and staff have really brought the program into a more modern image, which was very much needed to help dig the team out of the talent hole that recruiting and losing had landed us. I still wish the uniforms would stay somewhat old school, but oh well.

I'm guessing my TV was the wrong tint, because I clearly recall them being light blue.

If you're waiting then why are you in this thread? This doesn't even make sense, it's the whole point of the thread. Nobody said it would be taken into consideration. Just ignore the thread and wait till july... No need for you to be all pissy and get upset either.

I check this thread for updates like everyone else, and if I'm not mistaken, this is a discussion thread. I never said I was waiting, all I'm saying is why speculate and complain when you haven't even seen the finished product?

Mainly "Well my Vols would wear this" comments are ones that get repetitive.

Since we're all putting our input in, I picture my Vols wearing a tuxedo t-shirt, singing lead vocals for Lynard Skynyrd.

Try and find a post where I said what "my Vols would wear".... and/or where I complained. However, if it annoys you then avoid the thread. There is nothing wrong with anybody complaining or saying what they want the team to wear. Good greif... This is the uniform discussion thread.
