Uniform/Helmet/Shoe design thread (merged)

while we're at it lets take the facemasks off of all of the helmets, all of this new age stuff is ruining our tradition

It's nothing to do with that, i like pretty much all of Oregon's uniforms. Im just not a fan of the orange pants and there hasn't been an even halfway decent looking helmet concept. If anything is done to the helmet it should be white, but just make it flat.

Does anyone have an idea if Nike covers the cost for other school's helmets? I think UT State has 2 or 3 different styles. I bet if Nike pays for the helmets you may get stuck with something like Georgia had a
couple of years ago. Yikes!

No, they do not cover the cost of any school's alternate helmets. They design them and work with the company that executes the custom designs, but the schools pay for them.

Even TENNESSEE TECH has 2 different helmets.

If UTAD is going to be fashionistas about orange matching perfectly at least give us a smokey gray or chrome helmet once or twice a year.

Our athletics dept. is so cheap. I'm done with UTAD.

Just so we're clear, cost is not the reason we haven't had an alternate helmet. The administration has felt strongly about keeping the classic helmet design as our primary look.

Adidas designed a Smokey gray helmet to go with the jerseys, but it was never ordered. Nike's designs for the alternate uniforms also include an alternate helmet, but there is no guarantee that it will be ordered, either.

What's your deal, DP?! Always defending the athletics department. You would think they'd be paying you or something.

For the life of me, I can't figure out which cuss word ends with an e.......

You like Oregon's uniforms, but you don't like UT's Orange pants.

Have you considered becoming an Oregon fan? Because, even Dooley got that much, UT fans like Orange, and we especially like Orange pants!

OK DeerPark just please note that some of us would like to see a little sizzle added to the helmets in the future just on an occasional basis to spike more curiosity with the young kids and recruits.

I have never seen a flat or matte finish helmet that looks good. They all just look unfinished.

Having a white helmet with grey uniforms doesn't preserve any "look". It just looks strange.

I know most don't agree but I kind of like the white helmet with the grey. The helmets really stand out that way, in a good way for me, maybe not so much for others

I thought the white-gray-white combination they used for no-contact uniforms in the O&W game looked sweet.

Consecutive top 5 recruiting classes. Kids must like what we have now. Uniforms are over rated. Alabama and Ohio State have basic uniforms and attract kids by hiring top coaches. Meanwhile, here at UT our fans are a bunch of fashionistas.

I think that great player development and better game day coaching decisions with this talent will make everyone forget about changing uniforms.

It can always be better. It wasn't a #1 recruiting class. I also want good coaching. Why can't we have both?

Because some people can't climb off of Alabama's jock long enough to realize our staff is using every means possible, including uniforms, to make the UT brand more recognizable. If Nick Saban isn't doing it, then it is a waste of time.

How different do you think the 2015 class looks if we had confirmed orange helmets for the future? I think it would have made no difference.

I still hold the belief that it's a waste of funds that could be put directly towards the recruiting budget, which directly impacts recruiting.

I think the mountain and mole hill expression fits
