Uniform/Helmet/Shoe design thread (merged)

And I pointed out the black jerseys did nothing that traditional orange and white has done, which refutes all that you are trying to say they did.

Cool, apparently you didn't read everything. I'm not necessarily a fan of the black. I like the orange/white alt uniforms. I do t care if we do none of the above. I don't know why the black is so popular. The recruits and youth like it. All I said was black would be way more accepted than tan. Also that the black jersey game excited the crowd that's all. So imagine a well done black or orange and white alt uniform. So I don't know what you're trying to say.

Dang

Now if this isn't rich...you claiming someone else is getting emotional.

Plus you further cement how clueless you are, DP's reputation around here is completely solid. He doesn't get emotional, he simply refutes guys like you and states facts.

If you want to take a poll so bad, why don't you ask which one of you has more "cred"?

Yes, you are right, I know his rep on this issue about what will fly. I have never questioned that. He is wrong about what the masses like, which I partly agree with. The only thing we refute is the crowd reaction and whether or not tan is better than black. I don't refute his cred on this. I value his facts and opinion. All I ever claimed was that black is more popular than tan. Also that I think the alt white and orange alts would fly, that's it!

FTR, I like the idea of the grey pants and jersey with a grey or white helmet with.orange facemask......but I have the same thought about the tan uni as I do about WWII its cool to learn about the history of it but no way in hell would I.want to see it in person

Remove the name off the back and I'd be okay with these. If we're going to do a throwback, I'd like it to be as close as possible to a 1:1 recreation of an old uni as you can do in today's game (obviously leather helmets and jerseys with no numbers aren't a possibility). This "historically inspired" BS is just a bone to throw to traditionalists while also giving the people who for some reason think UT is too good for orange and white what they want at the same time. No need to try and have your cake and eat it too. If you're going to do a throwback, do it right.

That is my thinking as well. While I pretty much hate the black jersey for the sake of black jersey nonsense, these are ugly, but with a purpose. And it might be a good idea to widely publicize the fact that you are going to wear the things, rather than just showing up in them. I cringed when they wore those ‘71 replicas in 2004(?). But I understood what they were, and why they wore them.

It will be well-publicized this year.

I tried to make one with the T on one side of the helmet and a number on the other and it looked really weird. The only way it looked better is with orange numbers. I made a bunch of helmets and just threw that one with that jersey. I'm working on a fauxback right now, kind of like adidas has done in the past.

The undershirt is just the one we already have so I kept it. I think I will try a grey undershirt with an orange and white checkerboard.
If you made it, you did a great job, but it looks a little too similar to Arkansas In my opinion

Though I am a huge packers fan, on throwback week, I just have a hard time watching them in that uniform. Whoever the moron was that got the bright idea for throwback uniforms should have his home infested with swarms of locust.

a huge fan of a team should never have a hard time watching them.

funny but for years in this thread, it was " recruits shouldnt care about uniforms, players shouldnt care about uniforms, its all about the university and tradition, you guys spend way too much time talking pointlessly about uniforms, get a life, blah blah." now that we are doing a throwback uniform its " i hate this, i dont like that, needs more this, but not too much or it doesnt fit my definition of tradition, too many stripes, gray needs to be darker, no lighter." kind of ironic.

The team literally wore that combination for quite a few years at the start of the century.

Who cares, what we wore 120 years ago. That combination looks like a turd.

That crap should be put in the garbage.

Black or a new orange and white design or gtfo.

Yep! Lol, you done hurt his feelings though. He hates anything orange and white or black. He likes tan and thinks I'm the one in the minority. Sounds like he needs a new team

You both need to grow up. There are multiple sides to every debate, and someone disagreeing with you doesn't necessarily make either of you wrong.

But making it personal and insulting someone's opinion or ideas is incredibly childish. I thought we were all adults here and could have an actual mature debate. Clearly, I was mistaken.
