I liked this thought so I did one up like the Redskins used when they did their 80th anniversary unis. You can't really see it on this size image but there's a subtle leathery pattern on the helmets.

Because those designs are intended to be throwbacks, since that's what the prevailing theory is that the alternates will be. There's not anything from our history that even vaguely resembles what you described.

I'd rather the team trot out in orange and white, but since it appears that's not going to be an option for every game this year, then yes, I'll take the option that is a legitimate attempt at recreating a uniform from our history as opposed to simply wearing non school colors just to say we did it.
