Uniform/Helmet/Shoe design thread (merged)

These are really small changes. It's not like anyone is not going to recognize that it's Tennessee on the field.

Oregon doesn't have our tradition. Name another SEC TEAM that acts like the ducks......

Well, most if them would if they had the money and connections of Oregon.

Pretty sure Georgia has used a new uniform on opening week the last two years, and they may not be the only one.

As for tradition... If that's what your worries about let's just go back to leather helmets and pin stripes.

What "tradition" do we have tied up in our uniforms.

We have one of the most recognizable uniforms in all of sports. It's classic, sharp and instantly recognized.
I see no reason in making design changes to the uniform.

Which version should we never ever change?

Everything will hopefully be in this week to have an unveiling in the next week or two.

VQ posted a description of some of the changes to the regular uniforms after Butch showed them to recruits over the weekend.

Putting the state of Tennessee above the player names is something that's been needed for awhile. There will be a pattern in the road numbers, but it won't be noticeable except up close, much like the pattern on the shoulders of last year's basketball jersey.

Look for something light gray at Oregon and an alternate orange with a subtle pattern for a home game later in the season.

So we've got minor tweaks to the home uniform, a complete overhaul of the away uniform and alternates for TWO games? I've said a lot of negative stuff about Derek Dooley, but I'll give him credit in this regard; at least he was dedicated to upholding UT's unique brand, (at least from an aesthetic standpoint) something that Jones flat out doesn't appear interested in doing.

Change for the sake of change! That is why. It doesn't have to make sense. Ask the President. He is making changes just for the sake of changing. No other reason.

I stated my opinion, and gave 2 different examples of how I think it could be terrible.

You instructed us to use our brains in a more efficient manner.

I said that because it made no sense to me why someone would think UT and Adidas would write script Tennessee in a large font on the front of a jersey.

My bad.

I don't think it will look terrible because I simply don't believe there is enough room to screw it up. I think it will look fine because it will be a small font.

If CBJ wins here, I don't give a rats ass if our team plays in garbage bags!

I personally think the script on the road jerseys is going to look stupid beyond belief. There's a lot of football teams that have block lettering the the area above the numbers, but script almost always appears on either baseball or basketball jerseys. In fact, I can't think of a single football team that has a script name on the front of their jersey (aside from us now, of course).
