United Airlines New Seating Chart

I think the defense could possibly question the doctor's mental state. Regardless of the physical outcome, His actions were pretty bizarre.

Has anyone read anything about what happened in the minutes/hour leading up to the video?

I haven't looked, but like with any video, I'm guessing there's more that went on leading up to the video. I doubt they go from asking for volunteers straight to law enforcement forcibly removing someone from the plane.

United was within their rights. It is bad PR, but read the fine print on the ticket.

I would bill the doctor for holding up the flight, cost of extra security use, mental damage for pilots and flight attendants, etc.

They can toss you off for wearing too much cologne. See, United owes the plane.

They won't have a choice. If they are smart they will settle out of court, if it goes to court they will pay him three times the amount.

Nope they followed a policy that he agreed to when purchasing the ticket. He was asked several times to get up and then police had to remove him when he became combative. Three other people willingly got off the plane. United has good lawyers as well so I say fight it in court. Unless you want more of this to happen

Bingo! He's at fault here. Does the policy suck as a traveler, yes but in a post 911 era you are stupid to raise hell on a plane and not think you will get kicked off

If this is a jury case, will United trust that a jury understands and respects the laws in place, or will the jury simply go by "muh feels"?

I can't see any scenario where United doesn't pay something. I'd guess settlement. Legally justified or not, I'd think they'd have a hard time finding 12 people that would side with them unless there's something proving the guy was acting crazy/combative before the video.

Which he was acting crazy. He will be shown as the bad guy here when exposed and the social justice warriors will have moved on to another meaningless cause. Go to trial

The doctor has a broken nose and teeth...would you like your check in black or blue ink?

you don't listen to police and act crazy on a plane and things get messy. Read the terms. They can forcibly remove anyone from a plane for any reason they see fit. And when you purchase that ticket you agree to these terms and consiquences

Got you, my bad. I hope not but most likely you are correct. Hell, if nothing else maybe we all get to fly a little easier. But I still would like to see this idiot in court

No way this goes to court. That would just rekindle the fire against United. They will settle, and it will have 7 figures. Watch.

Although airlines have all the legal rights to treat passengers the way they do, maybe this fiasco will cause them to reconsider how they apply their rights.
