. . . and I really hope you are not intimating that disagreeing with you as to how to help the truly needy is somehow less Christian.
Look man I'm not trying to make enemies hear. And I'm not trying to say you're less Christian. But I see you have an overwhelming amount of pride about yourself.I just want people to know that poor people deserve a chance too. Some folks have been hit so hard in their life they just need a positive boost to get back on their feet and develope self-respect for themselves once again,Wouldn't you want someone to help you if you've been kicked down so many times.I would.Thats all I'm saying man.

Really, I've heard many people make the claim that we are over-insured. We drive the costs of things like routine dental work, annual physicals, and other things up by having them covered under insurance (in other words, preventative maintenance). The argument being made is that insurance should only be used for catastrophic incidences and that reagular exercise and proper diet could ease some problems (and remove a lot of the need for medications) and regualr check ups could be paid out of pocket at a more affordable rate. I realize this is all fiscal theory and that the genie is already out of the bottle, but it would be tantamount to having your car insurance cover a new set of tires every 40,000 miles, free oil changes, and the occasional fender benders.

Imagine how much an oil change would cost if everybody was guaranteed a "free" oil change with their car insurance?

Do people not realize that nothing is free? I'm not bashing you, but this is a terrible idea, and it will only bankrupt us. Why are so many Canadians coming here for surgery, etc? It's the government's job to protect us, not to take care of us. Socialism is socialism no matter what spin you put on it. I know your heart is in the right place, but look at the facts. And as a Christian, remember what Jesus said about teaching a man to fish?
I agree.I'm just saying their will always be poor people in this world.(has been for eons)If no UHC...explain to me how poor people can get the health care they need so they can get healthy again(most poverish people have numerous illnesses) and become productive people again.

Just because a person is poor doesnt mean they are sick.

I'm not going to argue with you about people taking better care of themselves,I could'nt agree more.

Nobody is arguing that people every now and then need assistance. The problem is that you have too many people right now that take advantage of the benefits we are already giving out and it is driving us bamkrupt. Now you want to add in an additional entitlement. At what point are you going to have sympathy/compassion on the taxpayers that were repsonsible and made all of the right decisions? At what point are you going to allow them to not have to fund the needs of someone else? There are far too many people that work and do and honest days work for an honest days pay, and they get shafted by the gov't because they are carrying the burden not only for their families, but also paying for someone that is not as responsible.

That takes away the incentive of the people that do it right to keep on doing what they are doing. At some point, you are going to tax/burden them to the point where it makes more sense for them to just give up and begin to suck on the gov't teet just like everyone else and just not fight the uphill battle anymore.

The same way you accused some of us of spitting on hobos as we walk past them, we could very easily take away from this statement that you think most of these people are fat and lazy.

But of course, that would be ridiculous... just as ridiculous as saying that if you don't support UHC, that you aren't living up to the high Christian stds that you may have or that we would kick a man while they are down.

So now that's anger, stinginess, questionable character, lack of compassion for the homeless and downtrodden and now pride . . . because I disagree with you.

This is what I get for being on the computer at 1:45 am.

Majority are.Have you ever visited people in the projects are inner city...it would blow you're mind.

I have relatives that live in the projects.

Most of them are able bodied and lack ambition and the incentive to do better for themselves.

If we continue down the path that you want to send us, then you will have middle class people taxed to the point where they have no incentive to do anything other than to take gov't assistance, because working an honest day's work for and honest day's wage would be foolish if you can get the same benefits while staying at home.

I have no respect for people that milk the system.God says if you don't work you don't eat.And I commend you on busting you're butt to take care of you're family.I totally respect that.It just hurts to see people suffer and I know there has to be a better way.

How about this? Instead of socializing medicine, allow everybody to utilize HSA's and FSA's so they can at least realize the tax savings on out of pocket medical expenses. That would at least soften the blow.

I don't have any kids and don't plan on doing it until until I feel I am ready for the added responsibility that would bring.

That is another easy decision that some of these people could make (that doesn't require you to be rich/wealthy) that would make our HC problem better.

Again, it goes back to person responsibility. So fitness/diet and planned pregnancies... easy solutions to our heath care crisis...

That all starts with education. At home and in school.
