Update on King

Maybe it's just me and I'm looking into it too much, but going from not being in his top 6 to being in his top 4 says a whole lot. Then making an a trip that to the best of my knowledge no one knew about is even bigger. Then to top it up he plans on going back for an official, which means he really liked his first trip and is seriously considering us. I have a feeling CCM knows a lot more than we do. I still see him at Memphis but have a really weird feeling CCM is going to get him. JMO so don't hate too much MC.

He's stated he wants to take all 4 officials and he may be looking for a fifth.

That's because you want it to favor the Mtown. It actually favors the Vols being that they came down on a one day unofficial visit with his family to have lunch with the head coach. Followed by the statement that he would come down for an official visit during the season. Take those glasses off dude.

I completely disagree with you.

The faact that Nick King will be front and center for a packed out Memphis Madness crowd, and will be making his decision a few weeks later is a good sign for Memphis. Martin has made up ground with Nick, but he's been Memphis' no. 1 target for months now. It's undeniable that UT has ground to cover, and him announcing in November means they have less time to cover it than if he announced in April. Just look at a calendar.

That's not what he's saying, most take all officials because they're paid for and you'd be a fool not to.

When a kid takes a visit to a school 8 hours away on his own dime, that says something. Especially when he hasn't visited the school 4 hours away, or the one 10 hours away.

That's all stoked was saying, that it's somewhat telling that he has only taken 2 unofficials.

He's taken WAY more than two unofficials, and he'll take all his officials. Nobody is arguing that Vanderbilt or Texas have a shot at the kid.

MC, I can't find anything saying he's taken any unofficials anywhere besides UT & Memphis.

I'm curious where else he has gone?

Hardly a good sign. Of course he's going to go to a Memphis game. He's from Memphis. Doesn't mean he's a heavy Memphis lean. Stokes went to Memphis games, came to the Vols. You want it to be so, so you're looking for that edge. This kid will make up his mind based on who he and his parents thinks can get him the best education, look after him and develop him into an independent young African American man. Enter Zo. Cuonzo is breaking down those walls and as someone who grew up in the Mtown its funny.

Maybe I've missed it, but I've looked and can only find that he's taken unofficials to Tennessee & Memphis, which is what the OP's point was.

Curious where these other visits were to.

I don't like putting words in other peoples mouth, but I'm pretty sure he meant that King has taken multiple unofficials to memphis.

I would love it if Martin could steal King. Don't really see it playing out that way though.

If that's what he meant then he misinterpreted what I meant, maybe my fault. The point the OP was making, and I was reiterating, was that it's telling that king has taken unofficials to only 2 schools. Vandy is on his list, only 4 hours away from him, and yet he hasn't visited there. Texas is on his list, about 10 hours away, and yet he hasn't visited there.

That's what the OP was trying to point out, that it says a lot (in his opinion) that King decided to take an unofficial to Tennessee.

Agree that Tennessee has a long ways to go with King, but like I've said, one thing I've learned with Martin is not to ever count him out.

I agree that you can't ever say that Martin is out of it. If there was no chance of prying King from Memphis he wouldnt waste his time on King. I just believe that between now and Novemeber there isnt enough time to flip him. Who knows though, maybe the sept 15 weekend he can sell a dream class aspect and host all the Memphis kids. Never know in recruiting.

That weekend could be HUGE for the future of the program.

Lulz. Education. Get outta town.

Nick King is going to be making millions in the NBA in 3 or so years. He and his parents want someone who can give him the best shot.

it was cool and i liked it," king said. "i liked the staff and the way they practiced. I really liked the campus as well. I learned a lot about my major and the academic side of things. It was good."

"it's the most important decision that i'll have to make. I just have to weigh my options and see which school is best for me. I think everything matters when you look to see which school i feel comfortable with."

"i like coach (jon) harris. He's down to earth and keep things real with you. He knows the game and he's a lot like coach martin. They both do a good job and they love the game," king said of the vols' staff.

Fwiw

"I learned a lot about my major and the academic side of things. It was good."

"An excellent student, King doesn't take the academic side of things lightly. He cited that detail as one of the reasons he had previously included Vanderbilt in his final four, alongside Tennessee, Memphis and Texas.

King insists that he's still considering all four schools as he starts to line up official visits for the fall, though plenty of speculation has centered around the idea that the battle will actually come down to the Vols and the hometown Tigers."
