UPDATE: Urban Meyer's resignation is now a leave of absence

LOL this couldn't get any better for everybody except Florida. NOW it's just a leave of absence. Urban IMO is mentally unbalanced and Foley is just as whacky for going along with something like this. Lots of kids are gonna want to sign up for playing for Urban who may or may not come back some day. This is all about avoiding the coming beat downs the next two years being attached to Urban Meyer.

I will say this, he's taking his breakup with Tebow a little harder than anyone thought. Maybe Foley is doing the right thing giving him a couple of years to get over their breakup.

This

Does anyone remember the basketball coach at Duke, Coach K, it was known they were going to have a bad year and he suddenly had to have his back surgery and was out while they had a bad year. This sounds similar.

From ESPNU:

Florida quarterback Tim Tebow said the team was upset after Meyer announced he was stepping down.

"The last 24 hours has been a whirlwind, knowing that Coach Meyer is going through a hard time with his heath, was hard on me," Tebow said.

"A lot of the guys on the team were crying and upset [when he announced he was stepping down], but for the most part everyone wanted what's best for Coach Meyer."

Why doesn't that surprise me? :cray:

I think you take from that presser what makes you fell better about your particular situation.

UF fans heard Meyer say in his gut he thinks he'll be coaching in the fall, and he loves the University of Florida.

Rivals didn't get specific answers on the health issues, fueling speculation that there's more to the story even though matters of health should be private. The impact on recruiting could be devastating, and it calls into question Meyer's indecisiveness and wreckless management style.

Why should they be private when he said he can't coach any longer because of his health? Seems pretty lame.

This is what your saying?

Maybe he got caught with a UT hostess?

I honestly think he doesn't have the constitution to deal with the ass whipping that Nick Saban put on him.
SECCG epic beat-down. Bad. Can he not face several more of these next season? Look out for Cincy.

Looks to be a carefully laid out plan to have excuses in place for the losses UF will take next season.

If I'm a junior that was on the fence about bolting to the NFL, I'd be gone now since nothing is set in stone for next year, and with the rookie salary cap coming into play, get as much as you can now.

If I'm a recruit verbally committed to UF, I rethink that commitment due to nothing being set, and his statements regarding he's been thinking of leaving for several years now.

I am biased, but I can't see anything good coming out of this flip-flopping of the past 24 hours.

Because details about medical conditions should be kept private?

Athletes always keep their medical issues private - after they make sure the entire world knows they have a serious medical issue. After they let everyone know they are sick, it then becomes private and unconscionable to discuss or question.

No one was asking details just what was the condition? Could it be something that perhaps a person in the public eye may want to keep quiet because it is embarrassing? ie. drugs, alcohol etc.

Typing the same thing over and over an explanation it does not make.

There's no explaining some things.....either you get it or you don't.

I guess nothing short of Meyer having his neurologist and cardiologist at the press conference reciting his medical history would be good enough for some of you.

my bad... you re right... i bet everyone will be talking about how this situation is perfect for florida and things really couldn t get better

Not really, but it won't stop you from thinking Florida will fall off the map, even though Meyer himself said he thinks he'll be coaching in September.

The hyperbole is strong with you.

I think that when he was asked "What exactly is wrong with you?" he could explain himself.

why would his cardioligist need to be there when he said he did not have a heart attack :whistling:

Sure....if you want to speculate. Message boards are great for that.

It's common knowledge about Meyer's chest pains and brain cyst. There's no need to go into details.
