***UPDATED PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS POST SATURDAY GAMES***

If Oregon beats PSU, they will fall below UT.

If UGA beats UTx, they will fall below UT.

If UTx beats UGA, they should fall below UT.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the way I see it.

I thought the committee has already said teams won’t be punished for conference championship games.

Depends on yours and their definition of the word “punished”.
That could mean not dropping a team completely out of the playoffs or it could mean not dropping them any/or very much in the seedlings.
Seems human nature that if some team is blown out by 20 or more that they’d have to drop a little in the seeds, but you never know.

If Oregon loses to PSU, Oregon can’t stay ahead of Penn State or all the teams in between, by default. I believe the committee stuck its figurative foot into its mouth.

Therefore, if Penn State loses, they should no stay ahead of people who did not lose a game.

I am just not convinced OSU falls below us. They are currently sitting at # 2 in the CFP rankings, and one of their losses was to the undefeated # 1 ranked team by a single point on the road. That is about as good of a loss as you can have. I think we may end up playing in Columbus. Best case imo is we get matched up with Indiana.
What did they do to Georgia in the same situation with a stronger strength of schedule? They dropped them to 12th. The bias will be glaring if they don’t drop a good ways. But they could care less I suspect. Nothing fair and balanced about this committee. GBO

I would rather play a team loaded with poorly coached, self-serving, pampered, prima donna 5* players like OSU than a motivated, well-coached, over-achieving team of 2 and 3* players like Vandy any day of the week. I would prefer playing them at home, of course. Just look at Boise State. They are rarely even in the top-25 in recruiting each year, but their players love the underdog role and playing with something to prove, rather than avoiding injury and protecting their draft stock. Nico is gaining confidence and more battle-hardened on the road. So, if it's OSU in Columbia, so be it. If we're worthy of being a NC, it won't matter. This is what we all dreamed of for the last 15 years or so. It's happening, so let's relish it!

Going to change significantly. They can claim that there's no penalty for losing in a CG and maybe there won't be as far as getting in. However, what if Clemson plays to potential and destroys SMU? UNLV could easily get Boise St. I don't see how the SEC loser's berth doesn't get hurt especially if its UGA. The lameness of PSU's schedule cannot be overstated... pulling for Oregon to absolutely maul them.

IMO, IU shouldn't even be in. I have nothing particularly against them other than that schedule. There's a good chance that whoever gets them effectively draws a bye.

UGA and Penn St lose next week and we will move up to #6 and be on the SMU (not Clemson) bracket side. If Clemson wins ACC then I believe B12 would be the 4th highest rated conference champion.

Also, if UNLV upends Boise State, then we could be on the B12 champion (AZ State or Iowa State) bracket side.

SMU loses, then I believe Miami is eliminated because they don't want to penalize a conference runner up.

SMU is really good. I think they’ll win convincingly.
I have not paid any attention to SMU, but a quick glance at their schedule shows they have not played against any ranked teams and Duke took them to OT. I like Clemson in this one.

Something that's amusing me is outlets like ESPN and CBS, whose playoff projection folks have us as an away team in the first round while their folks who have actual AP votes have us 6th (or 5th in the case of Rece Davis of ESPN). Do the playoff beat folks have sources close to the committee or is there really that big of a gulf between the folks who report on the playoffs and the folks who have a vote?
