***UPDATED PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS POST SATURDAY GAMES***

We'd better HOPE we play in Neyland. Accuweather (though it's a long way out) is calling for sleet in Columbus and a high in the 40s.

Having spent time up there in mid Dec, we want no part of the potentially very cold, windy, possibly wet crap they consider normal.

OSU lost AT HOME to a bad MIchigan team, on Senior Day. Senior Day! They don't deserve to host. Danny W needs to make sure Sankey drives this home. Can't let BIG10 bias win this one.
Just wondering out loud...and I think I know the answer...but the melee OSU was involved in with Michigan...any effect on the committees' feelings toward them? While it was reprehensible, and all involved should be punished severely (I think it happened at several other locations too) I doubt the committee will invoke anything here 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️. Ryan Day was interviewed on ESPN Saturday morning and kept referring to the BATTLE, WAR, HIS WARRIORS, PROTECTING OUR FIELD. That kind of talk is antagonist IMO. Just think about our soldiers on REAL BATTLEFIELDS, that are REAL WARRIORS...I simply do not like those references when referring SPORTS of any kind. Its a game!

Aren't we gonna have to wait to see what upsets happen in the CCGs before we get too worked up @ where we're gonna play and who? Man, this bracket frenzy has been riled up for @ 6 weeks now, with every prediction and rant imaginable.

I think at this point we are pretty much the 8 or 9 seed. Top four will be the conf champs. #5 is ND. 6 and seven will likely be sec and big 10 champ loser. Then 8 and 9 will be us or OSU and that really all just depends on committee opinion.

The SEC title game is meaningless this year....
How do you come up with that? To say Georgia is a lock for the playoffs is one thing but, they haven’t locked up their seeding. Meaning that if they win the SECCG, they move up and get a bye, if they lose, said game, they could drop but not low enough to be out of playoffs. They are ranked #7 they could drop 1 spot and still be in playoffs but a different seed.

You raise an interesting point. I’d be curious as to the perspective of @VFL-82-JP, @VolMarine1371, and some of our other vets and current service members.

This is my personal one
1.) Oregon
2.) UGA/Texas
3.) SMU
4.) Boise/ASU
5.) ND
6.)PSU
7.) Tennessee
8.) OSU
9.) UGA/Texas
10.) Indiana
11.) Boise/ASU
12.) one of Miami/Scar/Bama/Ole miss/ SMU (if they were to lose to Clemson)
This is assuming Oregon doesn’t blow out PSU

Similar to what I think. Though I don’t think the UGA and Texas positions are interchangeable. UGA will be lower with a loss than Texas would. I also think there’s a chance Penn St is one spot behind us with a loss.

I doubt
They’ll give them a chance to atone for their actions, with a first round host.
Sends a bad message by the Committee. Second, wait for the suspensions. You put them as a host team come Tuesday and watch the reactions from the press and fans. Then you have the Conference Championship.
This is all an eye test and about money. Have a game in Columbus OH 3 to 4 days before Christmas with the weather. It is just safer to play in the South.
The OSU stadium will look like a ghost town and for the most part they are looking for a reason to fire day.
The committee may be B10 bias but they are not stupid. OSU is in but they were going to fall 6 slots with the loss. The extracurricular activity threw them into a 9-11 range.
Give them a chance. This ain't Pop Warner football.
It is a gift of which they do not deserve if it happens.
The Head of the Committee happens to be the Michigan AD so if he wants to swallow the pill then so be it.

I don't mind it.

I mean, General Neyland thought of football as a war game. If it's good enough for the General, it's good enough for me. Ryan Day can say that all he likes.

Go Vols!

You have much more faith in the “committee” than I do.

Reading the post you referred to is a completely different scenario. The purpose and outcome on a battlefield cannot and should not be compared to a College Football game.
Soldiers are taught how to accomplish their tasks and trusting the plans laid out before them. You don't need any motivational speeches or recaps of analysis because everybody knows their mission and how to fight the battle.
Do your job for your country and follow the mission statement. If you fail we will have your back and if that is not enough to motivate you with bullets, artillery and other weapons thrown at you then you don't need to be there.

Both Teams stepped out of bounds with zero leadership stepping into the fray to stop it from either side. The Michigan Coach tried to stop it as Day watched. Some players did as well as Day watched.

Day will be gone, 20 Million on NIL and a lack of ability to lead or coach a team to a victory. He has not got it and it appears he cannot buy it.
His words in the locker room were ok but in the public forum not so much.

Comparing it to a modern day battlefield is TV/Movie stuff. Reason is because you don't ever have to motivate a soldier to kick some ass when given the mission/job/training to do so in a combat situation.

Penn State will need to get smoked to drop below us

Didn’t osu just stomp Indiana like last week? When did Indiana become good again? Did they defeat a ranked team that I missed?
I said we match up better.

Transitive property isn’t consistent in football.
Example 1) Bama beats South Carolina
South Carolina stomps OU 35-7 in Norman.
Yet Bama loses 24-3 to OU in Norman.

According to your analogy Bama should have beaten OU 42-7 and not loss to them.

Better than Indiana?? Absolutely not. Indiana is way slower, did you watch their game??
I’ve watched most of their games this season.

Including that one.

Ohio State had more talent and played up to it.

That same Indiana team beat Michigan.
The same Michigan that just embarrassed Ohio State…

Tennessee has the talent to level up Ohio State where is Indiana did not.

But Indiana does have the scheme and QB to give Tennessee trouble and the defense to stall our offense.

We match up better with Ohio State
