US may have killed Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani

Interestingly, he didn't chose to pull out of Vietnam...

Carlos86, would you happen to know why France would make that sort of demand to the United States at that time?

The French felt like they had been abandon by the U.S. during the Suez Canal Crisis and were not being treated as equal partners in the alliance.

Meh, Britain was more but hurt about the Suez Canal than France. The loss of the Suez was essentially the end of the British Empire.

By the mid to late 1960s, France was upset about something else.

They felt NATO was dominated by Brittan and the USA and wanted more autonomy. Plus I don't think they wanted nukes on French soil.

Who said it was?

Chain gun
Definitely
not a "brrrttttt."

In the 2nd round of shots right at the end, the body closest to the top of the screen seems to explode. First burst killed them all, 2nd made sure there were only small pieces. Must have been explosive or fragmentation rounds? Wow. 30mm is huge though..same diameter as the A10...just smaller weapon firing the rounds, and likely different rounds altogether other than the diameter...

I am glad to pull our troops out of Iraq...need to thoroughly destroy the airfield on the way out though. It is military...and iraq will become a division of iran when we leave sadly...kurds will be slaughtered if they cant flee to another country.

The OP showed an AH-6 with a side mounted Gatling gun and NGV said how does it make the distinctive brrrrp. It does not make the same brrrr as an A-10 gatling but sounds somewhat similar in the video. Somehow it turned into an Apache with the chain gun, which does not make the distinctive sound at all and that was my point. Rather convoluted, but no offense intended.

I get you, no offense taken. Thanks for the information, btw.

That's as good a logical reason as any. The other is that the French are, well, French; and de Gaulle was normally a pompous ass with what appeared to be a terminal case of PMS ... apologies to women everywhere.

By the mid to late 1960s, France was upset about something else.

“French president Charles de Gaulle still resented what he saw as the United States’ abandonment during the 1956 Suez Crisis, when the U.S. effectively forced France to withdraw its forces from the area around the Suez Canal during a conflict over its nationalization by Egypt. And he valued French military independence—something he felt could never be achieved within the context of the alliance.

Frustration mounted even more when de Gaulle suggested that France, the United States and Britain be put on equal footing within NATO in terms of nuclear strategy. The proposal failed, and as a result de Gaulle began slowly reducing French participation in NATO.”

RE:

Holy ****, if this is true?

That tweet is so far-fetched you would have to be really stupid to believe it.

If the shoe fits...

So all these people acting like this is too stupid to be true are going to be outraged if they find out it's true, right?

I really miss living on AF bases. As a kid I started religiously watching planes at Tyndall. We were on the approach; there was a little of everything, but lots of P-51s, F-86s, and T-33s. Years later when in the Army and stationed on Okinawa I was lucky enough to watch the occasional SR-71. Nothing like sitting near the end of a runway and watching fighters land.

Link? I'm just trying to find where and when he said what you quoted.

And you believe him? You so want this to be true don't you? He has a long history of close ties with Iran and Iranian influence.

Abdul-Mahdi is a former member of the powerful Shi'a party the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council, or SIIC.[2] Long based in neighboring Iran.

In the 1970s, Abdul-Mahdi was a leading member of the Iraqi Communist Party.
Abdul-Mahdi adopted Iranian Islamic ideas, eventually merging with the Islamists when Ayatollah Khomeini eradicated the communists and other liberal opposition groups in Iran. Abdul-Mahdi continued his association with Iran and gradually amalgamated his group within the ICP-Central Leadership with the Iranians, rejecting his Marxist past and devoting all his group's time to propagating Khomeini's ideas in France, where he lived at the time. He eventually was made a member of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq, an exiled opposition party and militia that was formed by Iran in Tehran in 1982 but composed exclusively of Iraqi exiles.

Yep, he is as unbiased and believable as the day is long.

Is the white house refuting him? Is Saudi Arabia?

I assume you have a problem with what happened, if it is true, right?

A leopard never changes its spots.
Funny huff is going to believe someone that probably had a gun to his head giving that interview.

There was a journalist saying Soleimani drilled a kids legs on F & F this morning making his father watch. He tortured and killed 1000s and 1000s and I'm supposed to believe he was working on behalf of peace??

Huh? If it isn't true, then it isn't true. We move on. If it is true, it's really bad, right? We're villains if it's true.

Is Saudi Arabia refuting it? Is the white house refuting it?
