Most anything that bolts to an airframe has to pass a crash safety analysis. The goal is to insure in the event of a specified crash scenario that the item doesn’t become a projectile, that it stays bolted in place. What tends to happen is this can be used too broadly. I’ve said many times of here $500 hammers make complete sense to me after seeing the procurement process first hand for over 30 years. The process is resulting in the exact products they wanted. And no t doesn’t make sense in a bunch of cases.

I dont think many are taking issue with reducing spending. We need to get annual federal spending back to a pre COVID baseline and cut from there (adjusted for wage inflation and higher interest rates)
