USC OT Tyron Smith

Live in Buckhead and currently in FL, so....
I hear that T. Smith will be in K-Town to visit this weekend (Friday). With that said, can someone local paint the rock?

We sure could use him and he is down to us or Miami!

Let's help and get him here!

Here is what I was talking about.

Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

I hope the rumor is true. If we could land this kid, I would be ecstatic. That's probably a understatement! Lol

Smith would be a huge pull but i think he will be a tough one to grab after looking at USC depth chart they only have 3 OTs now with 13 combined starts and if he left they would only have 2 with a combined 1 start. Kiffin will fight like crazy to keep him. the only things I could see is maybe he and Malik are real tight, he wants to be on the national stage and afraid with probation USC will no longer attract national tv coverage for his remaining two years, or maybe the rumor of him having family connections with our OL coach are true.

Will the fact that Seantrel Henderson going to Miami affect Tyrons decision at all? I heard that Seantrel was a cane.. maybe that will narrow it down Tyron staying at usc with that clown kiffin or coming to Knoxville and becoming a town favorite.

I think it all comes down to whether Tyron Smith really wants to leave USC or not. If he does, then UT should have the advantage. We desperately need OL and his buddy just transferred here.

Are we sure this person didn't hear "Tom Smith" our current RB commit, and mistook that for Tyron?

Could someone verify which T.Smith it is?

Not really sure I recall a whole lot of instances that support this. As I remember, the previous staff encouraged recruits to take all of their visits, even if they committed to UT after their first visit. This differs from guys like Saban and Meyer, who tend to get irritated when commits go on officials to other schools.

You don't think promising USC recruits that they wouldn't be sanctioned just to get them to sign a LOI would qualify for this? Even if he didn't think they would you cannot promise that it will not happen if you do not know for sure. He baited these guys into signing a LOI because he thought they would be stuck there even if sh*t hit the fan.

It's got to be Tyron, because Miami hasn't offer Tom Smith.

I'm confused as to what you mean.

A guy from Florida said he heard that a T.Smith would be visiting Knoxville this weekend.

Since he is from Florida and it's unlikely some guy from Florida (no offense to BuckHeadVol) would know about any top-secret visits of a USC player to UT, I
speculated that he must have heard that "Tom Smith," our current RB commit, was visiting and NOT some info on Tyron Smith, and he was simply mistaken or misheard.

I don't understand how Miami not offering Tom Smith has anything to do with what I asked.

I thought the post said that it was down to either us or Miami? Because that gives you your answer.

I would love to pick this guy up. He is HUGE. And if (rumors) are any bit true. I wouldn't mind picking up Seantrel. (highly doubt it though)

Wait, what? I think we're having a strange miscommunication here. I never mentioned Miami.

My question was really: how reliable is the information that Tyron Smith is visiting UT? Especially since the UT staff has been so tight-lipped about it. How would a person in Florida know that Tyron was visiting Knoxville this weekend? Wouldn't it make more sense to think that maybe the person heard "Tom Smith" would be in Knoxville and that was mistaken for "Tyron Smith"?

I'm just trying to verify that Tyron Smith is actually rumored to vist and it's not a case of someone hearing a similar name and getting excited and confused.

I was reading BuckheadVol1's post that you quoted. In that post, he said to paint the rock because it's down to us and Miami. So it has to be Tyron.

1. I'm not sure I believe Kiffin really thought anything would happen. 2. I don't see how that's forcing a kid to make a quick decision, as was implied.

1. I know Kiffin didn't expect such serious sanctions.

2. These athletes only have what, 2 years to decide what school they want to go?

Still not what I meant. I knew Buckhead was referring to Tyron, my concern was the veracity of his source. Why hasn't anyone else heard about it?

You arent going to find out if it is true or not until he transfers or the season starts. So why spend all this time trying to be a Law and Order detective to find out if the source simply misheard. SCs board has a thread about the same thing so there is a little leg to this rumor of Tyron looking so just leave it as it is and hope it is true. Dont try to crack it, K scooby?

Edit: Not many "heard" about Malik visiting..
