USPS on the brink of collapse?

Removing drop-off boxes, holding mail in the facility, destroying mail sorting machines. Doing this in targeted areas.

All of these have already happened.

2016 report: 'Nationally the number of collection boxes declined by more than 12,000 in the past five years'

President Trump has faced backlash over recent measures the U.S. Postal Service has taken to reduce service as November’s election approaches, including removing mail collection boxes from street locations. But eliminating mailboxes is nothing new and something that took place quite a bit during the Obama administration.

A pair of USPS inspector general reports provide details regarding the removal of thousands of mailboxes in the U.S., and during Obama’s second term people complained that too many mailboxes were taken away.

The same report revealed that in a 17-month period during Obama’s second term, hundreds of mailboxes were removed without following the appropriate process, as “322 out-of-service boxes were permanently removed from the street without Eastern Area approval or public notification to customers.”

At the same time, that report and another from September 2017 show that there are good reasons for eliminating mailboxes, such as underuse, and that even more mailboxes should have been removed over the years, which would have saved the government hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. The five-year total of 12,000 removed mailboxes jumped to 14,000 in the 2017 report.

Lol . . . and she's dead serious despite the fact that this sounds like the premise for an SNL skit.

What I find both amusing and frustrating AF
is her being in congress and she’s trying to come up with ways “ you guys “ can help out the Federal Post Office . Isn’t that what always causes these problems ? Congress has one solution for every single problem ...get the tax payers to give more money .

What do want to bet that she has never mailed a congressional newsletter to any of her constituents?
She has too... Has staffer write their names clearly where everyone can read it in the upper left corner. because we start reading at the top to bottom and left to right. Also, every one of her constituents write her back.. She kept all the unopened letters she received to prove it.

Hey Karen, anyone that wants to vote can. It might take a minimum amount of effort but they can vote. AND let’s not forget that the USPS does not receive federal funding.
Trump is using the USPS to engage in voter suppression and that constitutes an abuse of power. End/

how is he doing that?
Do you guys pay attention to the damn news at all? He has admitted it!

President Donald Trump acknowledged on August 13th that he opposes a major stimulus deal with Democrats, at least in part, because he wants to stop an infusion of $25 billion to the Postal Service ahead of the election.

These were Trump's exact quotes in an interview with Maria Bartiromo of Fox Business last week:

"They need that money in order for the Post Office to work, to take in these millions and millions of ballots."

and ....

"If we don't make a deal, that means they don't get the money. That means they can't have universal mail-in voting. That means they can't have it."

For the purpose of trying to assist his cause of winning an election, Trump is more than happy to see the United States Postal Service "not work". That is textbook abuse of power by the president.

The USPS actually does receive funding from the federal government via the annual budget in the form of subsidies. For example, the President's Fiscal Year 2020 budget provides funding of $250 million to the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General for on-going operational expenses. These subsidies are in the form of favorable borrowing rates and having restrictions on other companies regarding 1st Class Mail. They may not have always received tax dollars, but they definitely are now.
