UT Football. Is it plausible to believe we can win it all?

Notice *they both get blown out* so what does it matter? I didn't prove your point.. either way it was clear that Florida was the National Champion.

There's no real way of knowing who deserves to be there.. and yes, the Big East will get the shaft most of the time because they have the worst bottom half of any BSC conference ever. Auburn is far from a no name school, but they got screwed in 2004.. its not just small schools that get it, someone has to go to the NC.
i'll just continue to say "thanks". you make it very easy to debate, when you keep making my points for me. i'm glad you finally agree with me.

and i did use "could" in my post. not "would".

bottom line is, 1/2 yard a carry is not just a decimal point off or two.

here's the way i look at it. 3rd and 4 is the down.

who gets the 1st down? who keeps the ball another 2 minutes or so with a new set of downs?

i know it's not a catch all for every situation.....but a 1/2 yard is important in football.

That's convenient to look at 3rd and 4 - why not 3rd and 3 or 3rd and 5? You tried to equate USC being able to gain 0.4 ypc to 10 more minutes of TOP in a game, which is wrong no matter how you look at it.

The original point was that the two running games were not that different. To consider USC's running attack as good, you would also give UT the same consideration. That's all.

Is that all you got?

Auburn and Rutger are clearly not on the same level prestige wise. So WHY DID AUBURN GET SCREWED? They are not a no name. ***It happens*** Someone has to take the fall. Like I said, I never disagreed with you so you're not proving me wrong unless you're proving yourself wrong.

I'm guessing you would've liked to see Utah in that NCG when they went undefeated under Meyer? You must still be bitter about that. :clapping:

Auburn would have been blown off the field by USC. Whether or not they would have beated Oklahoma is debatable. They did prove they could destroy crappy teams like The Citadel.

USC: 416 rushing attemtps
1664 total yards
32 attempts a game
128 yards a game.
4.1 YPC

TN: 382 rushing attemtps
1404 total yards
29 attempts a game
108 yards a game
3.7 YPC

which one deserves the consideration again? oh, yeah, the 1/2 yard doesn't matter.

I will give it a 50% chance, provided the offense is smoking with no let downs.Thoughts?
Yes but nothing like 50%.

They have a very good chance of winning the East with the most favorable conference schedule in their division. They have no more "issues" nor less talent than the other serious contenders.

A good chance of winning the SEC.

From there, it depends on as many things completely out of their control as within it. There were many scenarios that easily could have kept UF out of the title game last year. The talk for weeks was how they got the shot that Michigan deserved.

At least they tied for their own conference championship. I know that's not a good resume, but Oklahoma got beat in their conference championship game.

Had the Big 12 not had a conference championship game, USC would have been a complete afterthought and OU would have been Big 12 champs.

I never said they would win. I would highly doubt they would have.. but they would have had a better showing that OU for sure. It wasn't exactly the point I was trying to make.. but ok :peace2:

They didn't exactly blow a pretty unspectacular Virginia Tech team off the field. I'd say OU would have put up 28+ against the Hokies that year.

There weren't.
you two should just keep discussing this........:salute:

Lol. If you say so

It's all in the past and there is no way of knowing.

Here's another stupid idea brought forth by Fulmer supporters to dismiss those who would have Fulmer deposed. I seriously tire of these idiotic accusations. People are tired of Fulmer because he's been mediocre or bad for awhile now. I like the guy, but the only reason I'm ready to see him go is because I don't think he'll get us back to an elite level. Certain posters like IE 95 think he will. Thus, they want to keep Fulmer around. Everybody wants the same thing: UT back on top of the SEC. If that happens next year, that would be phenomenal. If it doesn't, you'll probably hear a lot of posters say, "I told you so." That doesn't mean they are happy about the program's decline.

You read my post wrong but that's my fault since I edited CPF out to avoid this very conversation.

There are many on here who would actually welcome a bad year if it meant the coach would get fired. It will really upset them to see UT go 11-1 and for CPF to stay. Personally, I don't care who the coach is since I always want them to succeed. Didn't lump you in that bunch.

Bottom line = BCS has gotten the national champs correct every year thus far.
y'all have gone back and forth for the past couple of pages about who would 've done this or that if this team played that team, and who got injured etc, etc, etc......but you really don't KNOW what would have happened, because none of it never did happen.

i think the BCS for the most part has done it's job. it's gotten us matchups we never would have seen otherwise. NO Miami/OSU, no TX/USC etc...

but to say it's worked every year, uh, no.

And those were killer run stoppers USC played last year too.

Considering we don't have LSU on the schedule and FL will drop off significantly - I'd give our run game a lot of consideration.
