UT Martin Baseball ?

Bobby white should have gotten the job, great men he would have turn the program around great coach.

AD Dane loves to kiss football HC Jason Simpson Ass, He can't do no wrong, And he forgets about his baseball team, I have never heard of the football team eating peanut butter sandwiches after a game, And sleeping four grown man in a two full size bed in a Hotel. Mr Dame you need to retired today not next year.

Dane's an embarrassment, incompetence at its highest. There's not one single task he can handle.

He and that trashmouthed obnoxious prick known as Colonel Kaler.....if I ever see him again, I swear I will beat him beyond recognition.

Dane has hired some quality coaches recently. Girls Bball coach has won 3 championships and gone to 3 ncaa tourneys, girls soccer has won the league a lot over last 5 years as well. A lot of teams on the rise. Problem was chancellor got in the way and had people on committee rob had no business being there. One member of committee was legit. There were some great applicants who didn't get a sniff and that was not Danes fault. I agree with an earlier post that he could fundraiser more to increase scholly dollars for programs. But at the end of the day the head coaches have a direct effect of the expectations and culture of their program!

I Dont Think Any Of Those Members Were Legit. If The Ones Listed Were Actually On The Committee. None Of Them Have Any Connections With Baseball In The StaTe Of Tn. I Say THat Based On The Candidate Selection. If ThEy Knew How People Felt In The State , Mike Corn Or Delmonico Would Never Made It.

Mr Dane you the HC of football and the Coronel should go and coach the baseball team, then save the money to have more peanut butter sandwiches for the team . Is funny because all three of them talk **** about each other when they are not around each other, Mr Dane you are a disgrace to my beloved UTM ....LMAO

UTM alumni and former players include Harold Zonder, longtime MLB scout (currently w/Detroit Tigers), former HC at Hiawassee; Donnie Mitchell, currently Director of Baseball Operations with Gaylord Sports Mgt and longtime MLB scout and one time Scouting Director w/the Arizona Diamondbacks; and Paul Tinnell, longtime MLB scout and Director of Player Development w/Pittsburgh Pirates.

Did anyone at UT Martin bother to contact any of these guys during this coaching search?

I doubt it. I tell you, having the credentials and coaching UTM baseball as well as living in Martin when you're in your early 50's is not a bad deal for someone........

It was just a trial run. There is always next year! Literally

Not that I am suggesting that any of those guys would be the coach but UTM needs to ask Zonder, Mitchell, and Tinnell to either run the search or at least lean heavily on one or all of these guys in finding a new coach.

I thought I read a few of the administrators are retiring before next spring? Is that true?

Opinions from old timers can never hurt......

Tinnell recruited me. He's way overqualified to run the program, as is Harold and Mitchell, though Mitchell's demeanor would rule him out anyway-----he's a very sour soul.

Looks like its Goss's for a year, so let's support him and wish him well.

Johnny, I was not recommending Mitchell, Tinnell, and Zonder for the job. However, UTM is crazy not use those guys for direction in a coaching search.

BTW: good call on Mitchell. What years were you there?

Agreed--they should ask for input from those 3 if nothing else.

I was there 85-87.

They finished the year 9-42 so don't expect Goss to be considered for this position. Several of the same coaches from last search are trying to position themselves for a shot at the job but I don't expect any of them to be considered.

If the new AD handles the baseball search like he did the basketball search, he will handle it on his own and bring in someone he knows. I'd look for this to happen around the time of the CWS.

It's not like they are competing in the SEC. It's the OVC. They play teams like Belmont, Austin Peay, Murray State, Morehead St, and Tenn Tech. With the exception of Belmont, all of those schools are in rural areas of Tennessee and Kentucky and I doubt any of them spend a lot of money on baseball.

A winning percentage of less than 30% for 15 years and they don't make a change? They would be better served to just drop baseball and spend the money on something else.

I can't say for all the schools you listed but...

Tech is in Cookeville. This little rural town is atleast 40,000 The baseball team had a 40-19 2nd place OVC year.

And Belmont has a deep rooted history of success in baseball and basketball along with the likes Trevecca and Lipscomb before some of them made the jump from NAIA to D1.

No noteable big diamond wins, but Belmont did give Vandy and Oklahoma all they could handle.

College baseball has nothing to do with NAIA,or NCAA of any Div. or conference. It is the one collegiate sport that in more cases than not, can be played competitively mongst diverse size schools.

GVF, calm down. I wasn't casting disparaging remarks about your school or any others. I was simply stating that none of those schools had such an overwhelming advantage over UTM that the Sky Hawks couldn't compete with them.

The main point remains, UTM has not been serious about baseball or they would not have been so bad for the past 20 years.
