I heard several things over the weekend and both make a lot of sense and either would be a good conclusion to this mess. However, with the way this entire process has been handled, I do not expect either solution to be considered.
Did UTM hire Mike Hamilton to oversee this process?
Bruin, here are a couple of things I have heard. David is interested in seeing if UTM will allow him to start in January. I am not sure if he has approached UTM with this but it is a possibility.
Several folks on campus have indicated support for Preston Ozment. Not sure if this has any traction but it was also mentioned by some folks who know. This one is an intriguing rumor and it will be interesting to see if it gains any legs over the next few days.
Robert White was one of the first to inquire about the UTM job. He would have loved to have had the job and would do a very good job there. He was probably a casualty of the posted requirements for the job since he has no D1 recruiting experience. White has done a great job at DSCC.
Just heard the Sky Hawks are possibly pursuing one more candidate (?) for the job on a full time basis. If this doesn't work, look for the current asst to take the job on an interim basis and the circus will come back to town next spring after the season.
Eveyone's missing the obvious choice. He's tanned, rested, and ready and still living in Martin-----bring back Vernon!!![]()
Understand the point of no D1 coaching experience but neither did Mike Corn. He was "Head of Baseball Operations" which is a liason for hotels and such. I certainly believe Robert would be a guy to put UTM in contention every year. He is a relentless recruiter and a wonderful coach in practices and games. It just shocks me because he recruits only in state becuase DSCC won't give out of state waivers like everyone else in conference and he still wins each yr. And let's face it, DSCC could probably manhandle UTM right now in baseball. I really hope UTM gets someone who would put all they have into program. I grew up in Obion County and really like UTM.
