UT to receive LOI Wednesday, go in front of Infractions Committee in mid-June

Oh well...... Bruce is a good coach but a "Lot of Show" too!!! Sure, he is entertaining, but he can't bring on the studs like Cali and the others. He can easily be replaced and should be is UT gets major penalties.

It took about 30 years to replace Mears with some as good. How do you think we could "easily" replace Pearl?

UT has shown they will make a commitment to basketball and that's not something we have done for a long time. The facilities and the pay are now up with the good programs. If the time comes to replace CBP then it will not be the difficult task it has been the last few hires

Everyone keeps saying Calhoun never lied. Yet he consistently denied the allegations that the NCAA charged him with. Either he lied or the allegations are false. Pearl came clean under pressure. If Calhoun had finally told the truth, we would all be saying that he lied too.

I agree, UT should be more desirable to bigger name coaches. We may just found out how desirable real soon.

Do we still have a program? I saw on channel 6 news this morning that we might be hit with lack of institutional control

Did Calhoun do something wrong? Sure. But what Pearl did was much worse.

Here's a personal example. When I was eight, I took money from my parents without asking. It was something like 50 cents. I honestly didn't think it was a problem. But when my parents asked if I took some change, I lied and said I didn't. They knew I did, but gave me a chance to come clean. I did not. If I come clean, I would have probably would have been fine and my parents just tell me to ask before taking. Instead I got in huge trouble, because I knew not to lie about anything ever.
Good story but here is where they r different. You was a kid and ur parents were teaching U that stealing was wrong and lying is only a temporary fix to ur problem. My point is as an adult you know right from wrong so they r different. In this case Calhoun knew that they were breaking a rule and didnt stop it so in effect they where hiding it all the same. Not justifying lying just saying that fessing up foesnt make it less of a problem that some suggest

Other rumor is your football program will NOT be hit with as severe as some people thought, do to your athletics dept. trying to come clean witht he Kiffin drama.

Colin cowherd is ripping the severity of UCONN's penalities, calling it a slap on the wrist. Says Calhoun was also wishy-washy with the truth while the investigation was going on.

Calhoun isn't satisfied, he said he'll fight it with his lawyers. Slap on the wrist and he thinks they shouldn't get any punishment at all, love how Jim thinks.

The notice of allegations is now online. Posted at utsports.com. We stop all the speculation now.

If you don't think you did anything wrong, why would you be satisfied with any sort of punishment.

i don't understand how some people believe pearl "came clean".

if you ask your child if they took a cookie and they tell you "no, i didn't". then, you point to the cookie in their hand and ask them what's in their hand and they reply "a cookie".......that's not coming clean.

that's called getting caught in a lie.

He apparently contacted them after the kitchen interrogation period of your cookie analogy. Kind of different. Not saying he should be complimented for it. But it does show admittance and regret. Again not going to the coming clean side but I'll go in the middle.

Okay. Two things...didnt he admit it? And doesnt that depend on what the crime/violation was? In this case it was 2ndary so why r people saying we get such a harsh punishment?

Yes, that incident was a secondary violation. The fact that he lied about it, even though he came clean 2 - 3 months later, can turn this into a major violation. Had UT self reported that violation when it happened, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Hind sight is 20-20, but because Bruce didn't report it to UT's compliance offce at the time, then told one of the juniors' father that it was a violation, then ask him not to not say anything about it, tell an AA investigator he didn't recognize a photo of the junior in his own house, plus ask his assistants to do the same, is why we're in this mess.

A major violation. Meaning 1. Calhoun had 8 and was only suspended for 3 conference games. If we get much more than that, ill be pissed.

What if they deny taking a cookie despite the crumbs you point out on their shirt, walk to their room for 5 minutes, and then come back out and say "wait, can we talk about this cookie thing again? I didn't tell the truth."

Then, of course, you must give your child away to a slave trader or put them aboard a pirate ship doing hard labor for life immediately...because lying has to be punished as severely as possible...no matter what it's about. No brainer. :eek:lol:
