UT/VA Tech @ Bristol?

I would almost guarantee a large screen or 2. Otherwise the fans in the endzones will have no idea what's happening.

Either way. Screen or not. After I told my dad and uncles about this game, they were all in. They haven't been to a game in years for certain reason. I mean my uncle has a inground pool the shape of the T. So selling 160 k tickets won't be a problem. I have about 15 ready to roll from memphis

I don't know how good the view will be but it should be an awesome experience.

Initial Thoughts/Questions

Currently you can bring coolers into BMS...all the beverages you can carry in, yes I have carried in a cooler that has taken 4 people to carry...2 crews of 2 alternating shifts to get it to the seats. Will this policy remain in place for the game...I hope so

Will current suite owners be able to access their suites for this game?...I hope so

Could this be a GameDay location?

Camping to begin around Thursday with concerts on Friday?

Born and raised in Elizabethton, never went to a race at BMS but was able to get in and look around... wow the noise level is going to be incredible.. we are so looking forward to this adventure!

Will be 80% VOL fans and 20% VT...Gonna be super loud that night.

Not so fast my friend.. There are a ton of Tech fans just across State Street and around southwest Virginia. 80-20 seems a little high. 60-40 would be a better guess IMHO. But the Vols will be the majority by then I believe.

For everyone's consideration, this is a to-scale rendering of what a football field would look like in the Bristol infield. Apologies for the VT field, I didn't make this.

This is probably pretty accurate. The blacktop in the middle where the field is situated is about 650 feet long. For reference, tunnel to tunnel at Neyland is about 380 feet.

There is no doubt of the "cool" factor in this, but sideline seats will be about 75 yards from the field and endzone seats will be about 100 yards from the field.

Still, I'd probably go just to be a part of it.

Will current suite owners be able to access their suites for this game?...Interesting...But I would think they would want to make as much money to the hyper rich donors off the suites as they could. Not sure NAPA or Penzoil would be to interested in a football game seeing as the race season would still be going on

Could this be a GameDay location? They would be all over this IMO

Something else to consider would be the possibility of bleacher seats being added surrounding the field. Particularly, the behind the endzones. B.M.S. will likely hand out thousands of "field passes" to enhance the atmosphere even more. We won't approach the 1950 World Cup held at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, which fielded 180,000 plus, but I'm fairly confident B.M.S could fit 170,00 if they planned it accordingly.

I can see that. There is way too much space being unoccupied if just the stands were used.

I don't know if it would be possible but if the moved the fied as far as the can to one side either turn 1 and 2 or 3 and 4 and then place stands not the other side. If they placed it in the middle it would be really hard to see.

I've already emailed the campground we used to stay at for races there. The tailgating alone will be epic, even if we don't get in.

Then what's the point of having it at Bristol? You've cut the capacity by half. Just play a home and home at that point.

Does anyone actually think the game will sell out?

Decent chance IMO, especially if TN is a top team by then. Novelty of it will sell tickets too.

Realistically you're just asking everyone that would go to a UT home game that week to go, and everyone that would be at a Virginia Tech home game that week to go.

You obviously lack the knowledge of just how passionate and devoted Tech fans can be. Not to mention both fan bases will be driven to break attendance records and make this one of the most innovative moments in college football. The hype surrounding this will be substantial leading up to the game. Anywhere from 155,000 to 170,000 will be in attendance; myself included.

Not at all. It would still seat plenty more than what neyland holds. Look at the picture Boca, you're not going to be able to see anything if its in the center and if your close to the turns.

I can't believe some people are so negative about this game. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE BIGGEST CROWD IN THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL!!!!! Who cares if you can't see. Pull an Archie and go buy you a headset. I'm beyond pumped, only thing that would make it better is if they let me bring a cooler like they do for the races.

LP is a pretty darn good stadium for being able to actually see the game. too many stadiums have upper endzones and upper corners that are much worse than LP

I like the sight lines at LP, but I don't think it has fared well over the years. It is one of the most barebones stadiums I've ever been in.

I guarantee you with the way Nashville is growing, they will announce a retractable roof stadium within the next 10 years.

I agree with you from a viewing standpoint. That's what the NCAA used to do with the Final 4. They would play it on end and roll temp stands on the opposite sideline.

Now, they stick the court in the middle and they don't care if the players look like ants.
