UT/VA Tech @ Bristol?

Two things I have heard from a reliable source - There would be bleachers set down next to the field. And BMS can't get any money for the game, that being already wrapped up by the SEC (and ACC, maybe? That I don't know). But if it happens, the state would pay for a big Jumbotron for the track.
And on a personal note, I am excited about the game. It would be great for recruiting - for both teams - and the publicity would be unbelievable. Go Vols!

#VaTech to play #Tennessee at Bristol Motor Speedway in 2016, per source. Expected to draw a record 150,000-160k fans.

Discuss...

I think the crowd will be big, but the view of the game will be piss poor. The field will be too far from the stands for good viewing.

Still, for a publicity stunt and for recruiting purposes, it probably is a no brainer.

I was at the fall race and it was more full than it had been in awhile. Crappy product on the track. NASCAR has ruined their own sport. Their short track local racing program is top notch ( ive raced and worked on late model stock cars) but their premier program is junk.. My father was a pro wrestler for 30 some years and he swears its a work.

Waiting on Nascar to make a "Buy ticket to the football game and a nascar game" combo deal.

I wonder if the track rules about coolers will be intact for this event. If so RV's and camping for the weekend

Buy a ticket for your cooler, LOL!

Swear to God true story! I was at Talladega one year and they have the same policy about coolers. This guy a few people in front of me tried to enter through the gate with his cooler. They told him he couldn't take his cooler into the track and he held up a ticket and said "I bought a ticket for it."

Ron and Don Wright? My gawd, my grandfather absolutely loved hating those guys. Family used to take him to Knoxville to watch, thought he was gonna stroke out. His favorite was a guy named Sam Steamboat.

That could be a solution, it isn't like I've never brought booze into Neyland

I hang out with wrestlers that swear every sporting event is a work. I'm not surprised by this.

A bunch of truth here. Well said :clapping:

I heard a UVA fan running his mouth about the game and all UT/VT fans being rednecks. I think BMS should leave the football field in place an extra week and schedule UVA/Vandy and shoot for selling 160 tickets.

Here's what i am hearing two different sources UT and vt get guaranteed money, while Bruton gets all concessions and ticket sales. Its in the preliminary stages, they are talking about taking down the catch fence and they have to find away to secure bleachers on the straight aways w/o drilling into the new concrete track. Just what i have heard so far. GBO!

I've heard from more than one source close to Vegas that most people don't even want to know how much goes on behind the scenes in basically every major sport.

The way my dad always explained it was pretty much "Son, anytime you have that much money involved.. there workin'"

I used to think he was crazy.. but if you really pay attention it can make you wonder sometimes.

I've been in the boxing business for the last 20+ years. And the things I have witnessed on every level would blow your mind. I am not kidding.
