UT/VA Tech @ Bristol?

Yeah Ron is my dad, Don of course is my uncle.

Oh my did I love those guys too... my friend Mike and I always cheered for them...and the rest of the crowd hated us... We also loved The Bullet.

No joke, one time an old lady hit me with a folding chair because she got so upset at us cheering for them... was the best day ever.... #gettingmyredneckon

I envision an epic fail!

Well then you have no idea how much money Smith has to make this go right. Will this be the best place ever dreamed up to watch a football game? Maybe not but it will be one of the best productions ever put on. If you follow Nascar then you will remember back in the early 90's everyone told Smith "you can't race at night", well how did that turn out?

Gtfo!I live 2 miles from the track.Bristol is a is a very nice town.Pretty much a home game for UT.

I respectfully disagree. I live in Bristol and think it sucks.
Nothing here but a race track and junk shops.

O ya, Nascar sucks too/also.
Nothing but butt cracks and beer bellies as far as you can see.

Almost forgot about our local SPEED TRAPS. Piney Flats has been preying on locals and visitors for a few years.
Now Bristol is following suit by lowering speed limits around the track. Cameras will most likely follow.
When a race is in town, most businesses raise prices to gouge everyone.
This place is the pitts.

Larry put the lites in.

I have no idea who "Larry" is but Wheeler and Smith put the lights in at Charlotte.

Larry Carrier, former owner and really the founder of BMS. Per my previous post about the boxing business, I got to know him very well as he ventured some of his investments into boxing. He was a great man. He did put the lights in, as well as deciding to go with a concrete surface instead of asphalt.

We are talking about two different tracks. You are talking about BMS I was referring to Charlotte. Most people around thought trying to light a 1.5 mile track would fail miserably.

Well they typically don't compete in NASCAR, but I have a good feeling TN will riding a Beamer until the wheels fall off for this game in Bristol!!!

I believe LSU and Wisconsin open up at Lambeau field too. Now if we can only get Air Force or Army and Navy to play on an aircraft carrier (USS Ronald Reagon preferred) that would be the trifecta for really cool football game venues.

I'd also like to see MI-Mich ST play in North Detroit at night, no flak vests.

Since this guy looks like Jerry Jones and Al Davis' love child, I think it's going to happen: two Dallas cowboys sized jumbotrons. One on each side. That will be the only way most people would see the action. Or heck why not four? I honestly think that is what they will do in the end is have tons of screens.

that's the only way I see this working out. Go for "the experience," when in reality your are just going to watch it at a drive in.

Because who doesn't love the equivalent of a 4 lane interstate separating them from the playing field. I'm not going to knock it too much... But to me 160,000 fans loses much of its luster if it's a mile away from the field.. I'm not even sure you are going to hear them cheering on the field.

Now Joe Schad...
