UT worst fans in the country

Who is saying they want Pearl gone? I think we all want him to win, but some of us have legitimate doubts about how far he can ever take us in the postseason (you know, the games that actually matter when it's said and done).

The reality is that Pearl hasn't accomplished anything in March that Jerry Green didn't do a decade ago, and Green got fired.

I think Pearl has been good for this program, but I don't think just making the tournament and doing nothing once we get there is worthy of a lifetime contract.

Green got to the sweet 16?

Who's complaining other than the OP?

I think the op was referring to the two or three other threads calling out specific players in the title, one that called out CBP, and the many many threads in the Basketball forum that are just like them. Filled with fans venting about losses and such. Much of the criticism is unfair and unfounded.

The fear is what has happened in the past, I think. How much can we win under Pearl? Nobody knows.
But getting rid of him could bring back horrible results. Could firing him help? Sure, but the last 30 years of UT basketball says horrible results would happen. This isn't UNC with a Roy Williams waiting to become coach.

I guess you don't read Volnation too often?? People complain all the time just to hear themselves complain. Still doesn't do any good. It's why I rarely post here anymore.

The point is I haven't seen any threads bashing Pearl tonight even though we played like absolute garbage. The victim complex that the Pearlophiles have is sickening.

You know it. It is absolutely pathetic. Piss on the majority of you. Quit watching if you hate EVERY SINGLE PLAYER on the team and the Coach. There is a big percentage of internet heroes who think being an informed fan means you are critical of every player on your team, it doesn't.
For those of you who want Bruce gone, go bite your mom. UT basketball was irrelevant before Bruce, and will return there the moment you guys chase him off.
To those that think that you know what is in any players heart, you don;t.
It would be hilarious if it wasn't so pathetic that many of you think that winning games means more to you than the guys who play.
Someone actually wanted to attack Prince for taking a wide open shot with 3 mintes left down by nearly 20? Chism is a wuss because he layed down? Scotty has no heart because you guys know what he thinks? Why? Because you ran your mouth on a UK message board when he signed here so it has to be his fault that he isn't as good yet as you told them he would be?
With fans like this, UT should scrap the program. This happens over and over. Clausen, Crompton, Prince, Pearl, Hopson, Woolridge. It is amazing any decent player would ever want to play for a team whos fans actually hate their players.
UT fans will get what the deserve, a team that goes to the NIT every 6 years. Congratulations.

While listening to the responses to this comment, I heard a lot of "tune changing"..... Just saying, some people need Leadership. There is a little backlash from the angry left but the OP basically shut down the trash. Thanks Buddy.

I love it when Pearlophiles show exactly how much they know about UT basketball.

Sorry Hat not all of us have had a lifetime of couch jockying and monday morning quarterbacking, when Green was coaching I was training for war, sorry if his resume got past me. Doesn't change the fact that a lot of the "criticism" of this team is needless and over the top. If I'm a "Pearlophile" what sort of phile are you?

That really is truly amazing to me. I would wager that a majority of people that post on this board did not know that.
I knew it... and I would dare say Green's team had some of the best talent in UT history. He didn't get too much out of them, but I didn't think he should've been fired either. He just called out the boosters and that was that.

That is sort of the point of a message board to debate and take opposing views. I guess some people are just too sensitive.

The point that was being made is that he has accomplished the same amount as Pearl.

Yet, you're indicative of the whiners who come on here babbling about what UT basketball was before Bruce Pearl, without having the first damn bit of a clue what you're talking about.

That's fine. But people on here get sick and tired over an extended period of time reading how much their team sucks. Trust me, I know this team isn't going to do much this year due to a variety of reason.. It is what it is. Complaining isn't going to change it. Pearl isn't going anywhere.... So I guess just live with it or don't watch.
I really don't know what the alternative is. Do you? Because since the 80s UT basketball has tried to become relevant with little success, so to us "Pearlophiles" just don't want to go back to the Wade Houston Era or the Buzz era.

Who says that UT is automatically doomed to repeat the Wade/Buzz Error after Pearl leaves?

I think you have to take comments relative to the perspective of the speaker Hat. You may be the UT Basketball no it all, but I'm not talking about the entire UT BB universe when I say that it is unfair to say that 18 yr old player X is a "wuss" or that Coach Y "better win these games in this way". You don't need a complete knowledge of UT BB history to understand that some comments lack general perspective.

Green:
Year Ovr Conf Tournament
1997-98 20-9 9-7 1st Round
1998-99 21-9 12-4 2nd Round
1999-00 26-7 12-4 Sweet Sixteen
2000-01 22-11 8-8 1st Round
Overall 89-36 41-23

Pearl:
Year Ovr Conf Tournament
2005-06 22-8 12-4 2nd Round
2006-07 24-11 10-6 Sweet Sixteen
2007-08 31-5 14-2 Sweet Sixteen
2008-09 21-13 10-6 1st Round
Overall 98-37 46-18

I'll be the first to admit that I had no knowledge of Green's career as a coach at UT since I've only really followed basketball since I became a student here. It is really interesting to see that the success so many are excited about under Pearl isn't entirely unprecedented, even within about the last decade.
