UT worst fans in the country

They'll never get it. They wouldn't say it out in public like they do hiding behind a screen name. I can't stand the sports media, but at least there's a name and face to it and they have to look eye-to-eye with the players they are talking about.
not many would say what they say if they knew they had to look these players in the eyes the next day.

we could have had Bill Self!

honestly, people will complain about anything.

Not trying to be a tough guy. I thought you were trying to somehow dispute the fact that Pearl and Green's tenure are very similar. If you were honestly just trying to learn about it, I apologize. :hi:

It's all good, lack of body language in written communication lends to miscommunication and conflict. I seriously had no idea what Jerry Green did at UT I remember my Dad was very upset over him being fired, but thats still not the point I was arguing...I don't think.

Bears repeating here \/
I'm not saying "THAT" guy isn't out there. I'm saying the history of UT basketball says it aint. That's all. Houston was supposed to be that guy? comical at best.... O' Neil.... same results... Green ... similar to Pearl.... Buzz.... about .500 all the time.

So based on what you want in a coach, which is more than the sweet 16, UT has failed horribly in the last 20 or so years. Yet, you still think "THAT" guy is waiting to take UT to never-before-seen heights.
Could it happen?? Sure. But it's just not likely based on UT's history.

I'm not even arguing who the coach should be. I just think it's more then cowardly to get on the internet and question the character of a young man that you don't even know. Or make summary judgments on people who's job you couldn't do for ten minutes. thats it.

I agree with you. There is too much player bashing. There is also too much unadulterated love for the Coach who recruited and coaches these players.

I'll agree with the abundance of extreme positions. But I think one developed in response to the presence of another. Pearl isn't infallible but I do believe he is the best coach in the SEC (just my opinion) and someone needs to defend these kids.

When in our history did we have the facilities like we do now. When in our history were we willing to pay a men's basketball coach top money.

basketball programs don't become powerhouses overnight - it's harder than football. these kids get recruited so young that it takes years to develop inroads in recruiting circles. give him a couple years and see what happens.

You think it's harder to develop a top basketball team than a football team?

Kentucky. (Although Calimarie and World Wide Wes constitute the greatest player representation agency in college basketball)

That's a good point, and you might be right. A top-notch coach might come here.
I'm just not sure the time is now to get rid of Pearl. What he's done with the program is amazing, and he deserves a chance to see the fruit of his labor.
Now when will the time come when Pearl should go, because that time will come eventually, I don't know. I say when it gets stagnant.
Fulmer, for example, it was obvious the program was stagnant. It showed in recruiting and it showed on the field during his last four years. With Pearl, that time hasn't come yet, IMO. Top 5 recruiting class coming in and I still think he wants it as bad as he ever has.

I may be wrong but I think some of the kid bashing comes from folks who cannot bear to criticize the Coach. After all, they have spend a lot of time and energy defending him and well …” there is only so much a Coach can do”.

With that said, I think that Pearl has done a good job and am willing to give him a couple more years (as if I have any say). However, if he is unable to have more success in the post season then I am not afraid of replacing him.

That's right there with "Chris Lofton will be fine in the NBA" and "Rajon Rondo will fail as a pro" on my list of favorite posts of all time.

That's the thing. No one on here is advocating getting rid of Pearl. Criticism does not equal wanting him fired.

i didn't say develop. basketball recruiting is a different beast. i'll give pearl 2 more years and see what happens. i have plenty of criticisms. but i'm patient.
