Utah State feeling confident

Just a few quick facts from the rosters I saw.

USU Oline - Average weight = 289
UT Oline - Average weight = 308

USU WR's - Average 6ft 167lbs
UT WR's - Average 6'1" 200;bs

USU CB's Average 5'8" 179lbs
UT CB's Average 5'9" 190lbs

USU DL Average 269lbs
UT DL Average 308lbs

USU RB's = average 185lbs
UT RB's = average 197lbs

USU LB average = 227lbs
UT LB average = 226lbs

And for the hell of it their QB's = 193 pounds our QB's = 215

If the conditioning is as good or better than last year I don't see USU surviving 4 quarters just from sheer lack of size.

Hmmm. Maybe you need to review your 2 deep. Your DL has an average weight of 272.5. Outweighing USU by a whopping 3.5 lbs. Average OL weight for UT is 302, not 308 and for USU is 299 not 289. Ooooops!

I didn't bother to check the rest of your heights & weights, but maybe you should.

If we don't beat utah state comfortably, even with our mediocre lines, we should end the football program and urge all athletic department boosters to contribute at academics instead.

I can't tell if all the polygamist jokes are halfway serious or done fully in jest.

I just wanted to add though that I grew up in Utah my entire life and then attended Utah st. and never once even saw or encountered a polygamist. I'm not sure you guys really know what Utah is like.

And we aren't a bunch of hillbillies who have never wore shoes and never been around civilization. It's called a stereotype.

Except our DL is meant to be small.....idk how we are gonna run on those giant 270 lb space eaters lol

Where did you get these numbers?

UT's are incorrect. Not sure about USU's.

For instance, UT only has one scholarship DB listed at 5'9". The rest are taller so there's no way the CB's avg 5'9". UT has only one DL on the roster listed over 300 lbs.

Uh huh....tell me more....

Really? You don't know your own defensive schemes, and the personnel needs for them?

In a 3-4 defense, the purpose of the DL is to occupy space. Speed is not as important. Size is.

But unlike the 4-3 fronts we talked about last week (Under/Over), these 3-4 defensive linemen aren’t built to use speed/quickness to penetrate the gaps/edges of the line (such as the 3-technique defensive tackle or the rush end in the 4-3).

In the 3-4 front, you want to think of size and length along the defensive line (J.J. Watt, Haloti Ngata) with the ability to occupy space/offensive linemen.

And now you know...

Because size and length on the line are more important than speed and quickness in a 3-4 defense. You are welcome to use google to learn more about it, or maybe you are a defensive genius with a hybrid system.

I hear google is a defensive wizard. Is that your Def. Coordinator?

Guys, I hear on the radio talk about Chuckie being a good q.b. As if we should be shaking in our shoes.
That brings to mind three other games we played in the history of Tennessee football.

(1) Ar Kansas came to Neyland and according to all the media outlets in the nation, Darren McFadden will get 200 yards against U.T. DID NOT HAPPEN!!!!

(2) Florida came to Neyland and they had a defensive player who was going to wreak havic on us. Jevon Kearse! DID NOT HAPPEN!!

(3) We went down to play "The Barn" and a player named "Bo" was supposed to have a career day against us. DID NOT HAPPEN

I just don't think Chuckie can throw well when he is running for his life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your ! key has filed for a restraining order. Otherwise agree with you.

Hmm I guess both sites official rosters are outdated. The average weight for our OL is 309. That is for everyone who plays O-line, not just the starters. I also included your teams pine riders in all calculations to get the oline of 289. I don't know (or really care) who the starters are.

And I fat fingered the Dline which is an average 276.

Anyways..

Everyone is an expert with google!! I'm not sure that you know as much as you think you do (even with the assistance of google).

Most don't, but he knows what a prototypical 3-4 defensive front should look like. Please enlighten us with your knowledge oh bright one of the western desert mount.

Why couldn't I say the same thing????

Everyone is an expert with google!! I'm not sure that you know as much as you think you do (even with the assistance of google).

I wasn't the one that asked the dumb question. I answered it. Don't double-down on the dumb. Just thank me and then slowly back away.

:good!:
