UT's chance at March Madness

MTU dominated the sun belt conference--but of course got beat in the tourney by an 18-14 FIU team, which made it possible for an undeserving western kentucky to get in the ncaa (after beating fiu in the tourney final). Basically, all the conference tournaments do is make a little more money for the conferences and screw a handful of teams who get knocked out of the NCAA because fairly bad teams win their tournaments--see western kentucky and liberty (20 losses) this year, for starters.

I think Boise, Ole miss are in...MTSU, La Salle and TN fighting for 2 spots.

So I guess going off that i give us 66.6666667% chance, that's my best guess.

What makes you so sure it's those 3 fighting for 2 spots. Committee chair on tv Saturday afternoon stated there are 13 bubble teams under consideration for 2-6 spots

Practically speaking its down to those 3. Teams like Nova are in.

I'm obviously not positive...I'm ruling out teams like Maryland and UVA, if they get in well I'll be shocked. If you look at most bracketologists projections they all have about the same last 5-6 teams competiting for final 4 spots.

Rarely do you have some team just come out of left field that no one is discussing.

Via ESPN. But as a friendly favor to bubble watchers and bracketologists everywhere, selection committee chairman Mike Bobinski was willing to be surprisingly specific in an appearance on the network Saturday afternoon.

When asked where the committee -- which works steadily over this weekend in advance of Sunday's final push -- stood in its deliberations, Bobinski said the group had essentially narrowed down its list of bubble teams (which it officially calls "under consideration") to 13. Those 13 teams were vying for "between two and six" open spots in the field.

How can they be going for "two to six" spots?
That makes no sense.

Last update has Boise, La Salle, MTSU and Ole Miss in and Tennessee as first team out...nothing has happened to change that so not sure he'll change it but he may. (he changed it around this morning from last night)

Palm hasn't updated but he had Nova, La Salle, UMASS and Tennessee as last four in...UMASS lost ole miss won so I'm guessing he'll swap those two and leave the others.

Lunardi, palm and the other bracketologists have one hell of a job predicting the bracket. I'm sure they get tons of resistance to their final selection.

Dude. Enough. Seriously. You can't say we don't deserve to be there just because we lost that one game. Boise lost to SDSU, La Salle lost to Butler, MTSU lost to FIU. Do all of them not deserve to be there? Did all of them choke?

So short-sighted. It's amazing.

People grasping at straws!Ask Golden,Mcrae why we we didn't make it!

Wait, so the brackets are in already? We didn't make it? How can we ask them why we didn't make it if we don't know yet?

No one is grasping at straws. We're right there. We are absolutely in the picture. Although I'm sure that makes you unhappy.

How are these posts real? I mean honestly.

I wished we would have beat AL!There woudn't be all this fu***** argument betweet freakin fans! I'll say it again we're all fans here!Maybe some choose to be realistic like myself, some choose to be optimistc like alotb of people on here.

I think you are spot on with what is the best-case scenario for UT. It's very conceivable for them to have us above everyone else, leaving them wrestling with the possible decision to bounce MTSU, La Salle, or Boise. They have to keep us above Bama despite them beating us at the end of the season for us to still be in talks.

I hated to see them lose, especially to bama. I have enjoyed watching and going to a few of their games, especially of late. They fought hard and lost a game they shouldn't have in the end. Good luck Vols, wherever you end up, and I'll be there next year.
