The best teams recruit at a high level yearly. Top tier talent all throughout the roster. At all of the spots.
Probably a hard pull, Bishop is a redshirt freshman, Lewis more than likely will redshirt, depending on how this year goes for Seldon he could be a four year back. Could be hard to get a high level 2026 back but 2027 should be easy to sell early playing time.

Already having great young backs on the roster has never stopped Alabama and Georgia from adding even more. The elite programs tend to have an embarrassment of riches in the backfield and at WR.

You want to take an elite back every cycle, that’s how the big boys operate. Hell two if you can, backs go down all the time. And I’m also willing to bet Lewis isn’t redshirting, you don’t not utilize the fastest kid on the team. Same with Mike Matthews, they will find ways to make sure both those kids touch the ball this year.

plus in our offense we rotate running backs alot if their good. For example credit to DSamp for sticking around 3 years, he got some reps as 3rd in 22, or even in 21 we had Small, Wright, Evans until Evans left the team, last year we know was deep and productive with Wright/Small/DSamp.

In Heups offense we consistently play 3 in meaningful games. So I think we will start seeing more top tier RBs come here. But an elite one will be tough as it seems those always land TX, Bama, UGA

Peyton Lewis was ranked the #4 RB in America by On3. That’s pretty elite, if rankings are the measure.

What’s elite?

In the ‘24 class there were zero 5* RBs in the 247 composite. And the top guy went to OU.

In ‘25 there are two 5* RB. One to LSU and one to Bama.

Yes it’ll be difficult to land one of the 0-3 ranked 5* RBs in each class.

Or we could just keep status quo and develop our sprinter RBs into NFL prospects.

Wright
Sampson
Seldon
Lewis all we’re Champion in the sprints events in HS

Wright was a slim 3 star that didn’t play his senior year of HS because of Covid. That dude is in the NFL now firmly entrenched on the Miami Dolphins.

In the age old argument of stars vs our coaches evaluations, this one should be satisfactorily resolved. Coaches evaluated, recruited and signed Sampson and he’s been a bigger hit than Brandon Robinson would have been in this scheme…physical freak beast that he is. No “JMO” caveat.
