Vacation / Travel

We love Vegas. Have already been twice this year and are headed back in October too.

We've stayed at Treasure Island several times. Great strip views and optional nightly resort fees. It's not the Bellagio, but the price is right and we're not in the room that much anyway.

Red Rocks is a nice day trip (Stop by Bonnie Springs too!). You can also do the west rim of the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam in the same day. I'd suggest the Canyon early and Hoover on the way back.

Too many great restaurants to count, but I always make a stop at Gordon Ramsay Steak. His Pub, Burger and new fish and chips place are all awesome too.

For shows, Le Reve at the Wynn is mind blowing. Penn and Teller is also a fun show at the Rio. See who's headlining at Caesars. We saw Elton John in February and he was fantastic.

Thank you for the info and the links, that all sounds great.

got back, last week...

It was awesome, our resort was nice, and the staff were really good

You'll enjoy it, I highly recommend, going diving

The reef there is awesome, saw...Sea Ray, 2 Sharks, 2 Sea Turtles, and a barracuda

Best dive, I've ever been on

I'm not certified and my wife ain't not it. I will definitely snorkel. Which resort?

That's awesome. Not many go to Vegas and Hawaii in one trip.

My wife and I are starting to get a bit concerned about this tropical system developing moving towards the Caribbean. Kind of worried our cruise is going to get cancelled or rerouted. We were thinking about Vegas for a quick fix, if necessary. I've been once and it was a bachelor party, so I don't remember a damn thing. So if any of you Vegas officianados has good ideas lay it on me.

Don't worry about them canceling the cruise because of a tropical storm. You might miss some planned stops and it might be a rough ride a couple of days but it will sail.

We stayed at Cozumel, but after my GF did the pool class, they took us to a resort at the south end of the island, and we left from there...It was only about a 10 minute boat ride..
The visibility was about 60-70 feet....

Hmm, been a few years since we were there but the food and drinks were good.

they said they had moved locations, because other folks had mentioned that it was good, and had water slides and other stuff..I think that was the old one...There was nothing at the new one...

The other thing is they didn't let me park at the terminal for the cruise ships, which you have to walk thru the parking lot to get to Margaritaville...There were literally 50-100 empty spots...So I parked across the street and the towels we had taken with us, were stolen out of the Jeep

Thanks. We are renting a jeep for a couple of days. Have to take the ferry over which we may do. Shows a 2.5 hour drive.

We did the Jeep for a day...Check out the south end of the Island and go to Rasta's Reggae Bar....It's pretty cool and that end of the Island isn't really developed..

Have fun....It was great, I will definitely go back...

When you clear customs, there's going to be someone ask about Transportation, and they are gonna lead you over to a stand, that looks like they are just helping you out and part of the airport staff, and they will offer a ride to your resort, deal on jeep rental and ferry tickets, Tulum, etc....but there selling time shares on Playa Del Carmen, so don't get sucked in

Where are you staying?

Be careful. That's one of the focus areas of the travel warning.

Yeah but that's really not anything new. I started hearing these stories around 2012. I've been to Mexico three times since then and never had a problem. Always be aware of your surroundings, make sure drinks are poured from the actual manufacturer bottle and not a mason jar or non labeled bottle. I know they could pour into one of those but I've been told they don't because those bottles are inspected regularly. Another thing is to be a good tipper. I've found most of the servers in Mexico go above and beyond to give you the best service if you're a good tipper.

We're staying at the Secrets resort. We prepaid for airport transport to the resort.

Thanks for the advice (everyone).

After a ton of back and forth, my fiancee and I will be going to a Sandals resort in Jamaica in early November for our honeymoon.

We've always taken trips that involved lots of activities and constantly being on the go, so the idea of an idyllic spot with a relatively short flight time where we never have to worry about opening our wallets, renting a car, booking additional flights, etc., seemed perfect.

Anyone have experience with Jamaica, all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, Sandals, etc.? We're going to the South Coast resort, which was just renovated. It looks amazing. I'm a little worried about the weather, as November is still hurricane season, but most people said the weather is perfect that time of year.

We almost booked a trip to French Polynesia/Seychelles, but the prices are insane and the flight times just ruined it for me. I hated the idea of "wasting" two days of the trip just flying to different airports and having layovers just to get to the damn island.
