Going to Mission Beach in a month. Any restaurants or bars that are must visit?

There are a lot of good breweries nearby. In Ocean Beach South Beach Bar is pretty good for fish tacos, Hodad's has good burgers and Pizza Port has pretty good pizza and beer. Stone brewing Bistro & Gardens at Liberty Station is a great place to sit outside and have beers and grub.

Check the schedule at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach to see if they have a good show while you are there, that is a cool venue. Culture brewing just down the street is good beer stop.

Whisknladle in La Jolla is a great bar and restaurant.

On Shelter Island Fathom, Bistro, Bait & Tackle is a good spot for a beer on a pier and Humphrey's is a good spot for a concert.

After a ton of back and forth, my fiancee and I will be going to a Sandals resort in Jamaica in early November for our honeymoon.

We've always taken trips that involved lots of activities and constantly being on the go, so the idea of an idyllic spot with a relatively short flight time where we never have to worry about opening our wallets, renting a car, booking additional flights, etc., seemed perfect.

Anyone have experience with Jamaica, all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, Sandals, etc.? We're going to the South Coast resort, which was just renovated. It looks amazing. I'm a little worried about the weather, as November is still hurricane season, but most people said the weather is perfect that time of year.

We almost booked a trip to French Polynesia/Seychelles, but the prices are insane and the flight times just ruined it for me. I hated the idea of "wasting" two days of the trip just flying to different airports and having layovers just to get to the damn island.

We've went almost every year since we got married in 2013. We've done Nassau, South Coast (it was called White House when we went), Ochi, and Negril this year.

I think you'll love South Coast. It's a larger resort so even if it's packed it never feels crowded. It's a nice beach and the pools are great. We stayed mostly in the French Village area (it was the more laid back swim up bar). I wouldn't worry about the weather. It rained for about 30min every day we were there this year and it didn't hurt a thing. If you're lucky it will pisspour rain at night. A heavy rain and the frogs chirping are the best white noise ever.

We always take a Delta flight out of ATL. Direct and gets there pretty early. Depending day/time you get there you might want to look into Club MoBay. It's a sort of express lane thru customs. Another thing I'd suggest is if you or your wife use Facebook, look up the group for South Coast. Sandals set up a group for each resort. There's a ton of pictures, suggestions, and people asking questions in them.

Appreciate the response!

Our room is also in the French Village area. We're actually flying out of Orlando, as the wedding is in Florida and we'll be just a short drive away from the airport. The 2-hour direct flight time to get there was actually a huge selling point for me. Seemed like heaven compared to the 24+ hour excursions to get to French Polynesia.

How are the beaches/water at South Coast/White House? I read about a lot of seaweed washing up on the beaches everyday, but apparently they have people who come out and rake it up every morning.

My fiancee grew up going to Clearwater beach, so she has a pretty high bar for beaches (hence why she wanted French Polynesia/Seychelles originally). Just hoping she isn't underwhelmed by the sand and water when we arrive. The pictures make it look gorgeous, but they can easily adjust the colors, haha.

The ease in getting there is one of the main reasons we keep going. We work hard for limited PTO and we have to maximize our 7 days.

We were perfectly happy with the beach. You'll read different things, some people love it, some are disappointed. We were plenty happy with it. TripAdvisor and the FB Group (Sandals South Coast Fans Official) will have pretty good no-filter pictures (and you can ask people there currently to take more). Sandals does do some heavy touch ups when they really don't need to.

Yes, some one is always cleaning, raking, scrubbing, etc. They work their butts off keeping things up. If either of you like flowers, the garden/grounds tour they do on the property is kinda cool. Sometimes they pick a little bunch of flowers for a lady.

Our last full day here. I don't want to go home. Already been look at housing prices.

Ha. I have wanted to move to Kauai for nearly 20 years. I should have bought a condo in Princeville when they were cheap. A buddy of mine bought in the late 90s and sold it about 7 - 9 years later and made about 500k.

I found a one bedroom condo here in Poipu in the ones we are staying in for $450k. Would seriously consider it in the next 4-5 years and rent it out while I'm not here

Thanks for the info! We joined the Facebook group. People are obsessed with the place, haha. A lot of return trips and people who have been half a dozen times or more. Bodes well. My biggest concern now is getting too drunk on the first day! I barely drink nowadays, especially not mixed drinks, and being able to order unlimited booze seems like a recipe for disaster in that heat.

60 places to dine... have you??

I was surprised to see two places on the list that I visited and enjoyed their specialty... Salt Lick (bbq) in Austin, and Polebridge (bear claws) in MT

http://www.msn.com/en-us/foodanddri...s-to-try-before-you-die/ss-BBA04gN?li=BBnb7Kz

Let's see... Looks like 7 for me

BUCKHORN EXCHANGE, Denver CO
LOU MALNATI'S, Chicago, IL
CAFÉ DU MONDE, New Orleans, LA
UNION OYSTER HOUSE, Boston, MA
EL PINTO, Albuquerque, New Mexico
CATTLEMEN'S STEAKHOUSE, Oklahoma City, OK
SALT LICK BBQ, Driftwood, Texas

Heard of a number of others on the list as well. Recommend the ones I've been to. If the others are in the same class, it's a pretty good list.

Don't forget The Irma, located in the Irma Hotel (Cody, Wyoming), which was built by Buffalo Bill Cody in 1902. There is, indeed, tremendous history associated with that establishment.
