If you do and have not been there before, by all means visit the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, formerly known as the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. 'tis 5 museums housed under one roof. See https://centerofthewest.org/ and, particularly, https://centerofthewest.org/explore/plains-indians/.
Yeah..that would be #1 on my list of Cody places to see, but I just don't really see how we will have the time to visit. I need about three more full days, but six is all I got. Three in Jackson Hole and three in Yellowstone and there is no way to get my kids to give up a day in GTNP to go to Cody, it is their favorite place in the world..well it's mine too. And you can really do no less than three in Yellowstone just to see the main sites, and do some good short hikes.

Use Cody as a backup plan in the event of bad weather in Yellowstone. Contingency planning is a good idea when visiting the Northern Rockies, particularly in September.

Thanks for the info! We joined the Facebook group. People are obsessed with the place, haha. A lot of return trips and people who have been half a dozen times or more. Bodes well. My biggest concern now is getting too drunk on the first day! I barely drink nowadays, especially not mixed drinks, and being able to order unlimited booze seems like a recipe for disaster in that heat.

Yeah, you realize real quick how much people get into those places. The people that work there really make it easy to do that.

Pacing is the key, and I say that as someone that overdid more than I'd care to admit. Its so easy to just pile up at the swim up bar but you have to force yourself to mix in water or a coke every other drink. And walk away and eat.

I live for their pizza and a red stripe, though.

My gastronomical meanderings include
The Buckhorn Exchange, Denver, CO
The Colonnade, Atlanta, GA
Cafe Du Monde, New Orleans, LA
Union Oyster House, Boston, MA
The Angus Barn, Raleigh, NC

Enjoyed each of these, but, I'd have a few others on my own list based upon "if you're in this town, try to get a meal here."

Cafe Du Monde
Old Ebbitt
Lou Malnati's
Angus Barn.

The Angus Barn's food is overrated, but the atmosphere is great, especially around Christmas.

Homemade cheese and crackers are phenomenal. Other than that, you are spot on for Angus barn

Definitely the cheese and crackers are great. The best thing on the menu are the ribs. Their wine selection is also pretty amazing.

Ditto on the Jack's Shack. Best part of the cruise I went on.

Especially if anybody in your family is a dog lover. Their dog Topher hangs out there and digs in the sand all day.

Jack's Shack was great. Their jerk chicken was awesome. Topher the dog was really fun. He got on a paddle board with a couple of kids and was pretty much the life of the party. He definitely likes digging on the beach.

I found a one bedroom condo here in Poipu in the ones we are staying in for $450k. Would seriously consider it in the next 4-5 years and rent it out while I'm not here

I'm going to Hawaii next month w my parents. They're want to do the same thing, and are going to be looking for a place while we're there. Half the year in Hawaii half in Tennessee

I'm in Del Mar next weekend for a wedding. Playing Torrey Pines Friday morning. Then have about 4 hours to kill before we're on a boat charter. Also have Saturday until 3pm. Looking for stuff to do with my wife.

The restaurant at Torrey is a good spot for lunch, or you could go into La Jolla which also has a lot of shops if your wife is into that.

Near Del Mar there are some cool towns, Solana Beach, Cardiff, Encinitas and Carlsbad. If you like beer, there are some good breweries around. Eat Fish Tacos.

Near the racetrack there is Red Tracton's, an old school steakhouse that is a funny place to get a drink.

Rent stand up paddleboards at La Jolla Beach.

Sounds good thanks. The SUP is right up my wife's alley.

I read there are seals and sea lions on the cliffs around La Jolla. Might try to paddle over there

Do you guys not find the Caribbean much metter than Hawaii? I love the Bahamas and would like to retire there one day. I'm not talking about Nassau either. Don't get me wrong, I think Hawaii is beautiful but the Caribbean water is unbelievable.

Been to the Caribbean many times but unfortunately haven't made Hawaii yet. We're talking about celebrating our 25th anniversary in Hawaii, just celebrated 20 in Mexico. But we do love the Caribbean.

I've done both. Hawaii will not disappoint. Well, well worth it and a great anniversary trip.

My wife and I honeymooned there years ago. It was beautiful. We want to go back for our anniversary some time. Maybe our 30th. I love the Caribbean though, can't beat it imo.

Glacier Park... bad fire season again here in Montana. Fires burned the Sperry Lodge in the park and have forced the closing of Lake MacDonald Lodge as well as shutting down the Road to the Sun on the west side route to Logan Pass. Has been smokey here for 2 months now from fires in the area as well as those to the south and west of here.

Any chance of good rain in the forecast at all? The smoke from the fires has been making it really hazy in the Tetons because of that high pressure ridge. I don't think it has rained at all in Jackson Hole in 3-4 weeks. I'm praying that no fires get started there, we are leaving next Thursday, and will be in greater Yellowstone for seven days...I hated to see that about the Sperry Chalet. That really sucks

Does not rain much up here... so these fires will burn for some time moving forward.

No problem, go to Jacks if you want a more quiet local experience, go the the cruise port area if you want more of a party atmosphere. And as the other poster mentioned Topher is a blast!
.

I'm glad I got to Jack's Shack and met the dog when I did. Basically every single place we went on our cruise has gotten demolished or is directly in the path of Irma. Absolutely terrible for those people.
