Anyone ever been to Maine? I'm flying up to NYC and renting a car. I want to drive up to Maine and see a few lighthouses and whatever else I can find. Recommendations?
Highly recommend RVing.
It was such a good trip. My sister-in-law and her husband have done it for years and we joined them. My boys couldn't have smiled more and even a few storms and many mosquitoes didn't stop them. Talked long term about working it into our retirement planning too
Weve talked about being campground hosts when we retire.
Wish we would have gotten into it when the kids were young.
They talked about the same. He's federal LE and wants to move into something less dangerous and more outdoors. They have no kids
I do wonder how hard it will be in a few years to pull the kids away and go for a whole weekend. Guess we'll cross that bridge eventually
Are you talking about one your pull or drive like a coach? I think you need special permit to drive a coach
Go to Camden on the coast, it has a really nice state park with a 880 foot cliff that offers views of the sound. Also try the Lobster Pound just outside of town to the north. It has a large lighthouse right in town. It's about an hour south of Acadia. Penobscot bay is the name of the inlet.
What time of year are you going and for how long? I would highly recommend Baxter State Park (see Baxter State Park Welcome to a Magnificent Obsession.), which is in north-central Maine and, among other things, the location of Mount Katahdin, the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.
